The point is, there might be a God but I don't think so. I guess you could call me an "anti-theist." I am against the Christian doctrine.

So basically you don't believe in God, but you acknowledge the existence of a supernatural being/s?

Oh no that came out wrong. I am open to the possibility there is a God but I don't think that it is the God that the Christians worship.

Interesting. What is your image of God?

I dont believe in the Christian view of God either.

My views are those that are stated in my religion (Sikhism).

There is only one God, he is the Creator, Sustainer and Destroyer.

"You are the Creator, O Lord, the Unknowable. You created the Universe of diverse kinds, colours and qualities. You know your own Creation. All this is your Play." (Guru Nanak, Var Majh)

"The Formless Supreme Being abides in the Realm of Eternity. Over His creation He casts His glance of grace. In that Realm are contained all the continents and the universes, Exceeding in number all count. Of creation worlds upon worlds abide therein; All obedient to His will; He watches over them in bliss, And has each constantly in mind." (Guru Nanak, Japji)

God cannot take human form.

"He neither has father, nor mother, nor sons nor brothers." (Guru Nanak, Maru)

"Burnt be the mouth that asserts, the Lord takes birth. He is neither born nor dies; neither enters birth nor departs. All pervasive is Nanaks Lord." (Guru Arjan Dev, Raga Bhairon)

I have no image of God. I don't engage in any physical worship. I'm saying that there could be a God but until I see him or it or her, I don't pray to anyone.

Also I much rather be an ignorant Christian than an ignorant atheist as you have proven yourself to be.

There is no reason to call anyone ignorant. The only thing that James has ever proven is that he likes video games.

Gods existence cannot be proven, it is a matter of faith, it is neither delusional or for that matter inappropriate to decide God does or does not exist. Neither can Gods existence be denied as fact, as awareness does exist.

What is apparent in this thread is that it is starting to become a shouting match. While you are free to sugest to the administration we maintain a religious mud pit at present one does not exist.

Feel free to continue but please do so with more emphasis upon tolerance.

Interesting and thought provoking jagd. But don't you think that God's punishment is a bit much? An infinite God, with infinite mercy and patience, should be ashamed of such behaviour. While the Jews should have been punished for not keeping up there end of the deal, they should not have been dealt with so harshly. God would have known this was coming and therefore should not have been surprised. God, just like the employer, should have "fired" the Jews. That is, no longer be with them or help them until they ask for his forgiveness.

Or maybe it didn't even need to be that serious. In comparison to an all-mighty God, we are are like simple animals. It is like training a dog. You say to the dog that if he gets you the paper, you will give him a dog treat. Instead, he takes the treat from your hand and runs off. Do you hunt him down and beat him? NO! You scold him and help him do it right.

Everyone keeps trying to prove that God exists. I just have Faith that he exists. In my heart I KNOW he exists. The rest who doesn't care to know God, then as God said shake the dust off my feet and go on. Before I'm done the lord will come.

Reply to maynardsthirdeye

The point is that God did nothing to the Jews. It was the Babylonians who did the death and the destruction. It was no different that what the Babylonians did to other cultures. God just did not intervene to save the Jewish population with some miracle. Here again we see a problem with a lot of people. They want to forget about God until the bad guys show up and then they want God to intervene to "bail them out". Also you must look from God's perspective the sins of the Jews were extensive (Baal worship). This went beyond some mere examples of lustful behavior, it was a basic rejection of God's rightful rule. So you had a group of people who forgot their Covenant, violated it by worshiping false gods, and then expected God to be save them from the Babylonian onslaught.

Jag

The point is that you willingly posted this topic to have a fight with atheist but you just don't want to admit it. The problem is not that there's atheists who make funs on Christians or the inverse, it's the hypocrisy you weild upon yourself, don't tell me that you expected that no atheists would post about this topic.
Seriously, I'm sure they wont expect you to don't post if they make a topic about :

For my dear atheist friends on this Forum I offer the following link which summarizes the typical christians argument about the existence of God. Somewhere in this web page you will find an example of the thought process utilized in typical christian logic and argument

So please make us save time, just admit it, you got a fight, are you happy now ?

No it was indeed intended for certain people on this Forum Board. As the initial message said: "For my dear Christian friends", and indeed I have found many of the arguments presented on the Forum by atheists can be distilled into the same type of logic as presented by that web page. If I wanted to start a fight with atheists, there are several web pages to which I could have linked which would have really p*ssed them off. My initial hope was to get some of my fellow Christians to sharpen their skills in the field of apologetics. It seems that the people whom I hoped to have responded did not. What you seen here is a minor skrimish compared to some of the web pages I could have used. Again the skeptics did not seem to read the initial lead in message and comprehend. Also I find their attitude somewhat hypocritical for the web page I linked was a response to a web page found on the "Godless geeks" web site which ridicules some arguments used by Christians. As previously mentioned by me this web page was linked in a posting called "300 Proofs for the Existance of God". There was no lead in with the link. None of the atheists complained about a misleading post (which it was) in that case. Here upfront I make a point that my post was intended for the edification of Christians (and perhaps their humor). Now I have been called a liar among other things. In the "300 Proofs for the Existance of God" the atheists on this Forum saw great humor in poking fun at Christian arguments. When I made a post which poked fun at atheist arguments, they thought it was terrible. This is a double standard. I will say again. I can link some web pages that will really make these guys mad.

Hey, not that I've ever been guilty of sending hate mail to *anybody*...Because I don't do that sort of thing.

At least I have some respect for the privacy of somebody's mailbox...Not like a lot of unsolicited advertisers I hear from on a daily basis...Why should I add hate mail to that sort of BS for someone to sort through?

I don't think neither jag or colonel deserve hate mail for their views...

I completely agree. Let them believe what they want for in the end they will realize. I have faith. God exists.

The problem is that Christians, as an organized religion expect the same from atheists, who don't have any commun doctrina. Atheism include all non-beleivers, there's no tangible definition for atheists or commun morality and doctrina besides the fact that they don't beleive... I do beleive in God but not in religions, religions stink hypocrisy and narcissism.

HEY! Does no one listen! Already told you that atheists don't think like that, christians say they act like that to make them look as stupid and ignorant as the christians who believe that are.

Atheists don't think like that. They ask for proof, christians tell them to go to hell for they are satanists or Jews or some other group they consider evil. Sorry, Jag put that up to ridicule people who want facts and science instead of myth and fear.

I knew that it was a put-on from the first...Or had you failed to notice that my first reply was supposed to be humorous (Check out the Smilies I used).
