There is more than one "god". Christians cant realize this. God is a different entity to the worlds hundreds of religions. Just because "god" is mentioned in the constitution, doesnt mean "only OUR god".

Allah,Zoraster, Krishna, Zeus, Brahma, Odin, Lugh, Venus, Qwan Yin,Yahweh, Isis, ect.

God has so many names and identities, that i find it amusing that Christians still think only they have the true inlet to "god".

Hell, the NWO could be a christian take over, for all we know.

NOW THATS SCAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARY!

are references to the one god in different cultures, some of them are just pagan "make believe" godnames, the real one are all the same one.
The parallells in the scriptures of all religions is too clear to dismiss, aside from a few which really make no sense.

do some research god is a word that is derivitave of latin which i can not judge uppon or have hate towards but even then it was used as a method to control not to underatand the "all that is" or "creator" that most cristians(persons) instinctively call god.

Originally posted by mOjOm Don't misunderstand the meaning of what I'm about to say, but I don't really understand why the 10 Commandments were up in a Court House to begin with.

Wrong! The American Founding Fathers had religion *very* much in mind when they drafted the Declaration of Independence to be free from England & the Constitution to regulate the limits of the American Government. They *wanted* to have a government that took into mind a level of religious tolerence tempered with justice on an equal footing for everyone...However, since we no longer live under the Constitutional *Republic* form of government, everything's been going downhill ever since. Seperation of Church & State is just another example of the compost connecting with the rotary oscillator...
However, those Commandments don't belong in public view in a federal courthouse, as described by the First Amendment...As well as no other set of religious laws should be there either. By having the 10 Comandments posted in public view at the courthouse, it shows a federal inclination to display religious *favoritism* to Christianity...The First Amendment decrees that *no* religious favoritism is to be displayed by the federal government.

in the Commandments themself. However, there is a reference to God in them-the First Commandment.

This is where things get sticky. Unfortunately, some don't believe in God or have their beliefs elsewhere. That is there business and more power to them. I would like to sit down and talk to them however.

The courts could possibly take the view that the commandments are not intended toward any religion. That the reference to God is spiritual. Unfortunately, the commandments are linked to the Christian religion. There in lies the rub.

The trouble still lies in "religion". The misinterpretation of God's words.

Interpretation? Thats a bad word to the diehard Christian fundementalist. No such thing as interpretation. The Bible is the literal word of God, as many so believe and feel. It was "inspired" and guided by the Holy Spirit....some will say.
Its amazing how many times the Bible has been altered, changed, re-written, books left out, but yet its the 'literal and inspired' word of God.
I read once where the Ten Commandments might have actually been called the Ten Committments or something like that. I believe that God 'inspires' men but I also believe that man can accept that inspiration or deny it and write or change wording as he so deems necessary to suit his or her beliefs and religion.
Interpretation is and will always be argued with one side being wrong and the other side being right....but who has the final say in determining which side is interpreting correctly?
The Ten Commandments of comittments or moral laws were made to provide man with a sense of goodness, with virtue, with moral guidelines.....Jesus said or implied that these 'laws', or so they are labeled, could be simply encased in one phrase or wording:
"Do unto others as you would simply have them do unto you."
Perhaps, that too, has been interpreted in many a multiple ways...
I mean, in the Protestant faith or religion alone you have over 250+ different denominations....why? Interpretations?
And who is ultimately correct in their beliefs, doctrines and interpretations?

Actually thier not all references to the one and same GOD.
Hindu's, Bhuddists believe in GOD in a different form(s) as Christians do.
They believe in many gods ( dieties).

You know what really makes me mad is, every week or so Nicely dressed men in black suits come knocking on my door and shoving a bible in my face or brochures with Christ all over them. I'll humbly say "Im Sikh", and they humbly say "but", Then i shut my door.

You dont see anyother religious groups going door to door advertising thier religion like its some sort of race to see how many people they can covert.
ButI could be wrong, maybe thier are others, Iv never heard of them though.

They even send it in the mail, Its mad alot of my community angry that they dont seem to leave people alone, going door to door.
Nobodys like religions shoved down thier throats.

..is gone, then the only thing that will be left is to close churches, because some little group or another takes offense to looking at it as they scurry by in their rat-mobile,then the only thing that would have god-like powers will be the governments.
The constitution was written to keep this from happening, wish it was still in force?,your grandkids might if they don't succed in brainwashing them into thinking the government is right.
Man created government, therefore the created cannot become greater than the creator,or can it?.

With respect to the military and what I know of it, there exist great concern of the issue of the efficacy of the military, in respect to the number of troops which will actually engage in combat in support of government directives. The matter so often argued it would probably surprise the common man how much it
really is an issue with respect to the pentagon.

So, China has a million man army in reality how many of them are there for the pay and privileges (solely)? How many of them would not actually fight if it was clear the conflict could result in there deaths? This is not to say they are cowards but rather how many of them actually respect the government enough to defend them?

In the Russian Republic, it was the military who made clear they were not going to support the instructions of the leaders of the former Soviet Union. And for the record this is a primary reason we today call Russia the Russian Republic.

Its important to take into consideration that the societies mentioned so far are not big on a free
press.

But despite that the Soviet Union does not
exist today.

So, as I said a lot of money spent on guaranteeing good intelligence on the reality of a particular governments military's reaction, to some particular scenario. What about intelligence with respect to American troops in response to conditions at home??

WWII-1940s. Korean War-1950s, Vietnam War 1960 and what was the results.... Won, broke even, lost. And how is that relatable to cultural relations in the US in respect to religion?

Would suggest that while race is a factor religions are as well. This is a reason why our government is so concerned with respect to how minorities are treated.

A Colonel of the United States Military presents a wonderful speech to his troops about how despite our beliefs we are all fighting for the same God. But if in reality that idea is considered baloney by the population
of the US, what exactly is it that he is saying?

Again the matter as far as I know is taken very seriously by the pentagon.

Any thoughts?
