So now we learn Ukraine has apparently been "allowing" Russian Natural Gas to flow into Europe through Ukraine pipelines all along!

Now figure out who's been getting paid (rich) and who's been getting cranked.

Russia selling gas through Ukraine pipelines. Russia at war with Ukraine.

This is not a Babylon Bee story.

And only NOW is Ukraine deciding to stop this because an agreement has expired. lol lol lol lol

Russian banking Billions of Dollars while at war !! 🤣🤣🤣

Major Hoodwink 🥥

[inserts of emojis and italics not part of the original article]

Ukraine on Wednesday halted Russian gas supplies to European customers through its pipeline network after a prewar transit deal expired at the end of last year.

Ukraine’s energy minister, Herman Halushchenko, confirmed on Wednesday morning that Kyiv had stopped the transit “in the interest of national security.” 🤣National Security🤣

“This is a historic event. Russia is losing markets and will incur financial losses. Europe has already decided to phase out Russian gas, and (this) aligns with what Ukraine has done today,” Halushchenko said in an update on the Telegram messaging app. 🤣about time dontchya think🤣

🤣Brilliance of Zelenskyy🤣👇
At a summit in Brussels last month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy vowed that Kyiv would not allow Moscow to use the transits to earn “additional billions ... on our blood, on the lives of our citizens.” But he had briefly held open the possibility of the gas flows continuing if payments to Russia were withheld until the war ends.

Russia's gas transit to Europe via Ukraine stopped on Wednesday, Moscow and Kyiv said, ending a decades-long arrangement and marking the latest casualty of the war between the neighbours. Russian gas has been supplied to Europe via pipelines crossing Ukraine since the end of the Soviet Union in 1991 in an arrangement that earned revenues for Moscow from the gas and for Kyiv from the transit fees.

Exciting report and perspective!!

Global Panic 😄

Russian natural gas exports to several European nations through Ukraine have been halted following Kyiv's decision not to renew a transit agreement that expired on Wednesday. Ukraine had previously stated it would not extend the five-year deal amidst the ongoing military conflict with Russia. Watch to know more!

That Russian gas has continued to flow to Europe has always been known. European countries had become way to reliant on Russian gas over last few decades and that takes time to reverse.

I believe the gas exports to Europe are now about 25% of what they were prior to 2022.

BIG Electricity War In Europe: 'Not Your Servant,' NATO's Slovakia Siding With Putin, Blast Zelensky

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico responds harshly to Ukrainian President Zelensky's accusations, declaring that he is not Zelensky's servant. Fico also warns of cutting electricity supplies to Ukraine if the country halts Russian gas transit to Slovakia, setting a January 1 deadline for the decision.

Maybe I shouldn’t assume this, but I mean if Israel (which the US supplies with arms) can sell Russia weapons, is/was the $ the US giving to Ukraine ending up in Russian coffers because of this gas trade?

Please advise. This sounds like a bad joke.

It’s January 1. Not April 1.

Because breaking the agreement would have caused massive problems for countries that Ukraine desperately needed support from.

Uh. Sigh.

Never mind I’m sure Moldova was winding up an aid package worth many $B’s.

You’re right.

"Thw whole world is a stage" comes to mind as I watch world leaders vreate and play war games.

Why would world leaders agree to mock wars? Hmmm....

Reduce prosperity aand increas the poverty class. Middle class people are harder to control.

Reduce populations.

Enact new laws to limit freedoms.

Rid the war coffers of outdated arms.

Ensure security (and $$$ flow and power) to organizations like NATO.

Polarize populations into greater division.

Money laundering and greater enrichment of the 1%, who always seem to know which stocks to buy and sell to triple their portfolio overnight.

It seems like mankind can create anything it can dream up and do just about anything it wants to except co-exist peacefully. Maybe we should quit looking for aliens or the God Particle and start looking for harmony.

The US is the single biggest contributer in absolute terms to Ukraine but far from the only one. In terms of gdp or per capita I don't think it makes the top ten but that is beside the point.

Ukraine has received military and financial aid from dozens of countries many of whom would have been massively impacted by a sudden stop in russian gas.

I deeply appreciate this take.

I’m grateful for your succinct approach to this topic and it makes me pretty sad.

I do feel for the Europeans that now have no gas in the middle of winter

I do not feel for the despots that allow this to happen and then try and feign outrage (and expect us plebs to follow suit, better for their game plans), all-the-while knowing what is actually going on.

Biz as usual in the 21st century.

BS. If that was oh-so important, NATO would have stopped the Russia BS in 48 hours, not drag it out for YEARS like they ARE DOING 🤣🤣🥥🤣🤣

If that's true, why is Ukraine stopping the gas NOW??? Is it no longer important? Wake up 😁🤣

What has that got to do with what I said?

While I agree that NATO could end the war quickly (longer than 48 hours but certainly in a matter of weeks) there is the ever so slight complication of Russia having the world's largest stockpile of nuclear weapons and a sociopathic president.

What exactly does "in absolute terms" mean in this context? 😀
