Well if that's related, it certainly looks like it's designed to send a message

Blowing up a Tesla truck at the door of Trump Tower...is a mighty expensive message.

This is 'part' of what's wrong...

Former FBI official says it is 'premature' to label Bourbon Street attack a terror incident

Former FBI assistant director Chris Swecker said it is premature for law enforcement to call the Bourbon Street attack an act of terror.

...

Swecker said that based on the publicly available facts this was "an intentional planned suicide attack." But he would not call it a terrorist attack until the driver and his motive are known. "As a security professional, an act like this is very predictable and thus preventable. It's happened twice in New Orleans, it just happened in Germany and these attacks tend to be viral type events," Swecker told Fox News Digital.

...

Source (but you have to scroll down)

This guy goes on to lay blame on NOPD for failing to seal off the event, and this is his focus. In another story, this same guy states how NOPD is historically "problematic".

Where did they dig this dude up at??? First of all, a "Terrorist act" is any act designed to instill fear in others, especially large groups. It's the very definition of "terrorism". Where does this dude get off cautioning against calling it a terrorist act, and instead calling it a "intentional planned suicide attack"???? He goes on to justify his conclusion by stating that we don't know what was in the mind of the killer. Oh, okay...but he does??? How else could he conclude the guy wanted to commit suicide? Since we're jumping to stupid conclusions here, Mr. "former" FBI guy, maybe the guy wanted to be crowned king and rule the world! Where does the news media dig these idiots up?

By discouraging calling this attack a "Terrorist Act", he's effectively minimizing the event to lessen the consequences on those who may be associated, OR those who are contemplating such an act in the future! WTF?

So, it is an ISIS flag??

I was wondering why the flag had been wrapped around the pole, instead of just leaving it waving around??

People say the police wrapped the flag up maybe so it didn't get out right away that it was ISIS

The flag wrapped covered on a pole attached to the back of the pickup.

Oh wow you got to be really desperate to rent out your own vehicle out to strangers. People can rent ur vehicle and drive the # right out of it, take it off roading, race it, anything like that or use it for a Terrorist attack.

I would never rent out my car to strangers

Yeah it seems crazy to me as well.
Its an obvious vector for criminality, and then its your vehicle with a police tag on it..
Same as the AirBnB craze-I wouldn't rent out my property to strangers who could be up to no good.
Guess I am old fashioned,as loads of people do that.
Its probably because technology/apps make it seem a legit thing to do..but many don't think of the downsides.

I bet the owner of the vehicle used in this latest attack feels like sh1t now..

Yet all the carnage and murder was done by what??? A PICKUP TRUCK!

Not a firearm, not a "machine gun" (as the media loves to say), and NOT any other type of firearm...but a PICKUP TRUCK!

We cannot continue to let this manipulation of people's minds continue, and we must call it out at every single opportunity!

I suspect a deeper dive into this business will reveal a very shady and lucrative enterprise. You are correct, nobody in their right mind would do this, BUT just imagine how much of an attractive idea renting such a vehicle would be to a criminal! Say, someone wanting to commit a murder, or haul drugs...or mow down a bunch of innocent people on Bourbon St in NOLA!

I'll bet, if investigators looked into the records of the people who rent vehicles like this, they'll probably find a whole bevy of some real unsavory characters! I'd also be willing to bet that the rental rates on these vehicles is a helluva lot more than renting a pickup at Alamo Rental.

edit - BTW...there are people who buy exotic super-cars (Ferrari's, Lambo's, Roll Royce's, etc.) and then loan them out to companies who rent them. The rental rates are sky high, and the terms of the rentals are such that any damage gets paid for by insurance. So, the initial buyer takes a little risk, and in return gets an almost free 'lightly used' Ferrari, Lambo or Bently. Not exactly the same thing, but kind of similar. You see a lot of these guys on U-toob bragging about how "they" just bought a new Bently, when that's not even close to what really happened.

City manager for that city needs to be fired. No excuse for the city not to have every possible entry point to closed of section of the section blocked with large trucks or concrete barricades to prevent anyone from driving into closed off section of the city.

Any time my city has an event down town, they use large dump trucks, police vehicles and other barricades to prevent any vehicles from entering closed off area.

Just saw this, oh my! My heart goes out to all involved in this senseless crime.

Haven't been able to read the entire thread yet, so apologies if this has been mentioned...but did anyone else happen to see the news report that there were 4-5 other suspects they think?

I did a screen shot of that part of the article...

I'm not sure I'm following your post. What FBI agent?

The video was two NOPD personnel discussing the attack.

Disregard, I see it now.
