This is awful news and my heart goes out to all those affected by this horrific incident.

I will refrain from publicly speculating at this incredibly early and sensitive moment, but........

They are saying it is not a terrorist event but there were some IED's found. Not much else reported so far.

That was very weird press conference because the Mayor said it was a Terrorist attack, then 5 minutes later when that FBI lady came on and said it wasn't a Terrorist attack. I rewound her words a few times cause I thought she might have said "tourist" since they were talking about how many tourists vs locals were hurt and killed, but she indeed said not a Terrorist attack.

Sure sounds like a Terrorist attack though. Killed 10, about 40 injured, shot 2 cops and then numerous IEDs found. What else would you call that and i don't care about "official definitions" this is a Terrorist attack, the people in New Orleans are gonna be scared to go the Sugar Bowl today and I'm not sure if they are having a parade?
Could be more attacks and who knows where more IEDs are hidden?

you know i've always thought that was stupid. it sure was terror for those that were hauling ass trying to get away.

come on man, when someone intentionally tries to kill more than one person at a time unless fighting in a real shooting war it's terrorism no matter what the perpetrator's reason for it.

Where is the suspect? Did he get away? Was he killed? Was he arrested? They didn't say anything about the suspect in the press conference

Edit-still very weird the Mayor came out and said this was a Terrorist attack then the FBI says its not a Terrorist attack. If it's not a Terrorist attack why is the FBI now in charge of the scene?

That was my exact first thoughts on listening to the reports here in the UK. Zero mention of a suspect in custody, just that 'a vehicle ploughed intentionally into people' and shots were fired at police.

When the UK government/authorities fail to mention any details of a suspect, it always turns out to be a middle eastern/Islamic perpetrator...do they try to hide such details in the US as well?

Simply tragic! So sorry to see such an event spoil the New Year celebrations!

May those killed rest in peace, and those injured, heal quickly.

The definition of the word "Terrorism" has now been basturdized by the woke to suit their agenda. "Terrorism" isn't that hard to define. Anyone who has intent to injure or kill large numbers of people in a single event is a "Terrorist", plain and simple. If the initial reports are accurate (which they often are not), and this person was in fact carrying improvised explosives, and they (as reported) fired on police following the rampage, then this is absolutely a "Terrorist" event...regardless of how the corrupt and morally bankrupt, politically-charged, FBI wish to define it. How could it be viewed any other way??? Jeezus! (I'll save my "unbelievable!" comments until after we get some additional facts).

What a tragic way to start off the New Year for so many.

A couple things I don't understand. Bourbon St. is generally closed to traffic in the evenings. At least it was when I was there last summer. I would think on New Years it would be doubly-closed (as in barricaded by police. Normally, it's just blocked off and signed at night). So, how did this person even get a vehicle on Bourbon St. to begin with?

Bourbon St. is a crazy place, even in the daylight! I'm not sure I'd even want to go down it at night, and certainly not at 3:15am in the morning, but that's just me. Anyway, I'm sure on New Year's Eve, Bourbon St. was extra-crazy.

RIP to those killed.

Yeah, every report I've found so far only says the suspect shot at police, but there is no mention of the suspect being apprehended and/or killed.

I was just there last August, and Bourbon St. along with the streets on either side of it in both directions was crawling with Law Enforcement. They were everywhere. From everyone I talked to, the Law Enforcement presence doubles or triples every night after midnight to maintain order and get partygoers to go home. I've never been there on New Year, or Mardi Gras, but I would think this would be doubly true on these big nights.

edit - While I have very little confidence in the "news media", I've got to believe that the question of..."Where is the Suspect?"...is at the top of the list. So, my only conclusion from this is that authorities must be holding off announcing anything until they can verify if this was a lone actor or if there were more involved.

RIP to all killed in this horrific attack. They did state it was a terror attack on the MSN in the UK. Just wonder how long until that's changed to a person with a mental illness. Absolutely no mention of the perpetrator so far though.

They've even picked up on this 'anomaly' of omitting to tell people whether the perp is "dead or alive" here in the UK too.
Very strange!

Simple...So they can clean up and dispose of any evidence which might be damaging to democrats and/or the left!

Breaking news on Fox they just announced the suspect is dead. They haven't said how yet but I assume suicide or death by police gun fire. His identity isn't know yet by the media
