No the people of Ukraine did not want their govt overthrown. It was actually a minority of people and in fact it was ginned up by the media billionaire who was later installed as President.

Once in power he brutally cracked down on his own citizens who were against the coup.

As for the Ukrainian Nazi heritage it’s well known.

The war doesn't show that Russia saw Ukraine as a threat. It shows that the Russian government wanted to invade Ukraine.

I assume the media billionaire is zlZelenzky ( he isn't) , who was ejected ( noymt installed) 5 years later.

He also didn't brutally crack down on his own citizens against the coup, his government continued to fight against russian backed and funded groups in Eastern Ukraine.

Maybe the 'brink' has been reached, but I've said it for decades, it wont be a nuclear war. We only have to look at events in last 48 hours in Lebannon to see that countries have far more effective toys in their 'toybox' than nuclear WMD's.
