Very sad.

Why is this such a common thing over there?

115000 thousand schools in the US.
2.5 million retired US soldiers
700k Active Police
35k per school year
2 per school
8.1 Billion

We have sent 50 Billion to Ukraine in two years.

There is a solution. It is right there in front of us.

Shootings, Suicides, Sudden Deaths...this generation of teens are having it rough. Hopefully these trials will make them strong adults of good character.

Not in cash, though.

But what's that got to do with all these school shootings?

Jesus Footballers are BRUTAL!

I remember when we thought Tonya Harding was a thug!

This is heartbreaking, lighting a prayer candle.

I am saying that there is a waste of US funds that could be used to protect people in our own country.

Yes this^^^

We for some reason protect banks and cash better than our most precious resource, our kids.

I have no idea why more schools haven’t armed their teachers or have armed security.

My sons school has signs all over campus…

ATTENTION
Please be aware that the staff at XXXX ISD are armed and may use whatever force necessary to protect our students

Money didn't create this problem and money won't fix it.

It's the decay and destruction of the values, morality, and sociatal standards any civilized society requires to be functional, and money can't fix that.

What created this problem and how do you suggest we address that issue?

I asked a teacher that once.

Her response: “You don’t want to be on this side of the door”.

In other words — those on the inside of the asylum would be gunning for each other.

I live an hour away from there. It's always scary to hear this. Especially when my kids are in high school.

Regardless of the money 'sent' to Ukraine I'm more or less certain there is enough money in the USA for them to employ some of those Vets to try and safeguard your schools if that's what you are proposing as a solution.

I have no idea how practical or effective that might be but money most definitely should not be the thing preventing it from happening.
If it stops or even vastly reduces the number of these tragic instances then it would be money well spent in my opinion, for what little its worth.

My most heartfelt condolences to all those affected by this tragedy.

I added an edit.

Do I have to say it?

Not going to completely agree with you on that but won't disagree either.

BTW, my apologies if how I worded my response to you was crass. Was not intended to be that way

I'd tend to agree with that.
I'd also add in the amount and type of medication being pumped into children/people nowadays and the glorification of the 'gangsta' culture etc.

Throwing money at it may help reduce the affects but it doesn't address the core issues which are far more deep rooted and complicated and require a step change in the thought process and priorities of those in government and positions of power and influence.

We have similar issues over here just not thankfully with guns - that is not a comment on your Second Amendment etc.

Ugh. Hate to hear this. It was traumatizing for both myself and my daughter when she was at Michigan State during that shooting. I'm so sad for everyone involved.

I'm also tired of just hearing "thoughts and prayers" or "get over it".

Yes, but why is this happening with such depressing regularity in the US in the first place?

I get the need for protection, but why is this happening?

It seems to only mostly be a US thing?

Not in cash, though.

But what's that got to do with all these school shootings?

Plenty of cash while the 50 billion figure does not exclusively mean cash, it does include pensions, wages, government functions etc. Not to mention cash bonuses.....

Also in regards to your mention of school shootings which is not only the topic but very tragic, do you also apply as much concern to the "immigrants" in your own country who are defiling your own countrymen and women?
