Sounds like the government is very afraid of a revolution / insurrection to go this hard on political descent. The UK done better than other western nations in challenging the covid lockstep narrative. Was still a slow, hard campaign, had some massive crowds with the public protests on that one.

The government policy to make the immigration topic taboo does not provide much confidence that it is being handled appropriately. It is a problem when car start burning up and the hospitals kept busy in the post protest cleanup. Is keeping a tight lid on this pressure cooker really the best approach? When the next event to cause some public outrage occurs there will be more unresolved issues in the background.

Maybe becoming the 51st state wouldn't be so bad for the UK.

US Government can't actually outlaw speech, thought or opinion no matter how much they might want to. Mr Starmer seems to be using 1984 as an instruction manual.

My wife is a Brit, I remember talking to her uncle about leaving the EU, he voted to leave, his main reasoning was too many slavs and pols flooding in to England taking their jobs.

No one cared when it was other white people being pinned as the issue, just something I noticed. The first protests about the stabbing of the kids ended up right outside a mosque apparently.

I accept you guys want to keep the 2nd and I agree it would be absolutely crazy to abolish it.....but we do not need something similar - nor do we want it. All that would happen would be a huge increase in people being shot.

I was out and about on both Saturday and Sunday. Bumped into lots of people and had lots of conversations. I was also very vocal and forthright with my opinions on some issues - far more vocal and blunt than I am on ATS - and guess what? Immigration issues aren't just a far right thing in the UK.

It's just that the far right are taking full advantage of why most of the nation has a sort of slightly biased take on Immigration. Again, like I said earlier leaving the EU was mostly about free flowing Immigration within the EU.
