I was looking at the wikipedia entry for the Ukrainian offensive into the Kursk Oblast, Russia.

Looking over the commanders/leaders section of the conflict, I noticed something....Odd...

Dymtro Kholod

And his units insignia:

The battalion is called Nightingale Battalion, in which Dymtro is the commander.

Source

Now, I don't know this fella Dymtro, but I do know that symbol...

Nachtigall Battalion, translated in English as "Nightingale" Battalion.

Who is the Nachtigall Battalion? The Nachtigall Battalion was a Nazi battalion in 1941 that oversaw the Jewish progrom in occupied Nazi Ukraine.

1941 Nachtigall Battalion Wiki

....That's it. Short and sweet. Use the information as you choose. Thought I'd introduce you guys to actual Nazi weirdos. This is who the left wants to support geo-politically. It's the weirdest paradox of allegiances, the national socialists and the communists...

Side note: Putin wanted to de-nazify Ukraine, and ironically the first incursion into Russia was done by Nazi Battalions. I kind of chuckled at that....

Is the 1941 nazi battalion that oversaw the Ukrainian progrom of Jews accurate or a battalion in Ukraine currently exists called the Nightingale Battalion accurate or that the unit *if they exist* took part in the offensive by Ukraine into Russia? Which are you asking in reference to. Because I would say historical evidence provided that information to be included in wiki. I can follow the references back though if you would like me to...

You make a good point. I originally thought this user was just a brown shirt nazi sympathizer, but I could believe more he believes in a "lesser of 2 evils" type of thing, and that the Nazis aren't as bad as the Communists. Which is ironic to say the least considering that user is probably (assuming) a communist himself.

But I can agree that Communism definitely killed more people in the world to date, than Nazi'ism.

LoL

Your problem is if anyone should be afraid its Russia after what they have done.

As to them being "WW2 Nazi SS", i dont think any of them on ether side fighting is such.

Else they must be getting rather long in the tooth dont you think?

Scream "Nazi" all you please, but what's good for the goose, is good for the gander, and you reap what you sow.

Freedom to Ukraine.

I did some digging. Ukrainians Fought alongside Nazis against the soviets.

One of the units deployed by Kyiv to western Russia has been identified by Ukrainian media as the Nachtigall [Nightingale] Battalion. It takes its name from group of Ukrainian nationalists that fought alongside Nazi forces in the Second World War in an attempt to achieve independence from the Soviet Union. A Ukrainian military source confirmed the battalion’s existence to The Times.

I think you can use this for Ukraine. It's heritage, not hate... except hate for Soviets/Russians.

They could do what we in did and rename all that is racist from the civil war, but nothing racist from before the civil war. You must selectively purge the rich white male slave-owners from their namesake.

You've heard of Ft. Bragg, Ft. Hood, Ft. Lee, and Ft. Pickett, but have you heard of Ft. Liberty, Ft. Cavazos, Ft. Gregg-Adams, and Ft. Barfoot?

We still have the 116th. Still nicknamed the Stonewall Brigade.

This unit in Ukraine is the same type of heritage unit. An homage. Only I can't confirm how long theirs has been active. Rebirthed possibly.

But saying it's "Nazis invading Russia" is like saying "Confederates invaded Iraq" because the 116th was deployed.

During the early stages of WWII, who was it that fought side by side with Nazi Germany ?

In case you don't know it was Moscow.

No that’s a weak attempt to cover the rampant Nazi SS circlejerk that’s been going on in Ukraine over the last decade

Russia hasn’t been renaming their streets after Nazi SS Stepan Bandera where you can see Ukraine has on Google Maps/Apple Maps etc.

Especially in western Ukraine.

Search Stepan Bandera on Google/Apple maps.

It’s a Nazi SS hive fest there

The Nightingale Battalion did fight for Nazi Germany - as did quite a few Russians - but they weren't Nazi's as such, or at least the vast majority of them weren't.
Their primary goal was to rid Ukraine of Russian control and gain independence for Ukraine - more of a 'enemy of my enemy' sort of thing.

So I suspect - granted no evidence at present - that's where the inspiration for the battalions name and insignia come from; a desire to be free from Russian control and to be able to govern themselves.

Apparently some think that is wrong?

Is it?

How convenient for you?

If you could simply provide actual proof that the western Ukraine is a Nazi SS hive.

Bar the likes of street names, that might be nice.

You do the search, after all, you're making the claim.

The "Wolfsangel" or "Crampon" and insignia in question is a heraldic charge.

Apparently mainly from Germany and eastern France, and inspired by medieval European wolf traps.

You misunderstand the historical timeline. The 1941 battalion weren't Ukrainians that fought for Germany....Ukraine was under occupation by Germany in 1941 after the commencement of Operation Barbarosa. That was a a German military unit under the Abwehr (1940's German Intelligence).
