From what I have read the shot he had to take was through trees. Now, why would you have something with a roof like that obscured by trees? No clean line of sight.

Even with my smartphone, I zoom in to photo or film someone's head far away, through tree limbs/branches. Smartphone that's not on a tripod, lol. (Doing so is a component of my 1099 contract jobs.)
