Much like Trump, Hunter's a first time offender and these are non-violent crimes. The odds of jail time for either of them are relatively low.

Yes, but as Hunter is now a convicted felon, when he is found guilty in the tax case, his sentence will be judged based on the fact that he is a felon. Enhanced time I think it's called.
I learned all this from the Trump trial as folks on your side schooled us all on how being a convicted felon can be a hinderence to your future. But Trump is in his 70's and likely going to win the presidency regardless of the charges. Hunter has quite a few more years to think about how being a convicted felon will effect his lifestyle.

SENATOR BRAD HOYLMAN

ADULT SURVIVORS ACT
SEXUAL ASSAULT SURVIVORS
NEW YORK -- Today, the New York Senate passed the Adult Survivors Act (ASA) (S.66/A.648), sponsored by Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Brad Hoylman (Manhattan-D/WFP) and Assembly Member Linda B. Rosenthal (Manhattan-D/WFP). This legislation would create a one-year window for the revival of time-barred civil lawsuits based on sex crimes committed against individuals who were 18 years of age or older.
Senator Brad Hoylman said: “Adult survivors of serial sexual assaulters like Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein and former OB-GYN Robert Hadden have been shut out of our courthouses by inadequate statutes of limitations. That ends now. In 2019 we passed the Child Victims Act, which has helped more than 6,000 sexual assault survivors seek justice. The Adult Survivors Act extends that exact same opportunity to thousands more survivors, letting them hold their predators accountable in court. For far too long our justice system has failed survivors of sexual assault, the passage of the Adult Survivors act is a powerful step to fix that historic wrong. I’m grateful for Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins’ unflappable commitment to seek justice for survivors of sexual assault, and for the leadership and persistence of Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal and so many incredible survivor-advocates.”

How long did they deliberate?
Bonus Question: How long before the pardon?
I think it will play out like this:
Hunter will now accept a plea deal for the September IRS trial. Daddy then pardons both of them and resigns. They ride off into the sunset and the dems put up a new candidate. That their voters did not have a say in.
I am leaning towards Kennedy.

Would that be the laptop that the FBI testified in this case that they couldn't confirm whether or not it had been tampered with after it left Hunter's possession?

Go read the transcripts again, they said it was not tampered with. Under oath.

He should appeal it. Seriously.
I agree!
While I personally am glad that a crack addict can't legally possess a gun, the law itself it too easily abused. No one regisltered to legally purchse marajuana in California can't legally possess a firearm, for example.
Plus, I believe the lower courts have ruled that the actual form, that Hunter lied on, violates the 5th Amendment of a person's right not to incriminate oneself. That case is rambling thorugh the court system, somewhere.

after this rulling do you think it would be wise to go the way of bar tenders? Kinda like how if a patron is too intoxicated the bar tender can be held liable. So does it not stand to reason that a law should be in place to help protect the gun seller. Maybe say a mandatory substance test for any and all before the purchase? That is probably what will happen.

The good doctor wasn’t there for the verdict, nor any of his other family.
Only the gold digging wife.
Go figure.
