We can lead a horse to water, but can't make them drink.

We can lead a person to the truth, but can't make them think.

We can salt their oats though. 😁

Which is understood.

As I said, I’m not surprised in church’s not wanting to perform or acknowledge gay marriages.

But I think it’s fair to say many church’s see that lifestyle as more of a sin than others that are equally as sinful.

I’m not religious (though was raise such) or gay, just always found it odd that people made it more of a sin than what they did even though the Bible seems to put more focus on other sins.

So? Church shouldn’t allow sinners in. I haven’t been to one church that hasn’t welcomed all sinners. But it’s also hard to preach from the Bible if a church you go to is more worried about rich donors, their copyrighted materials like the Methodist cross, or social justice warriors run the roost.

We’re all sinners.

Judging is also a sin and I knew many who took pleasure in it at churches.

Look, this may not fit with some Christians, but I believe it....

When we are born, we are born into sin. I believe each of us will have 3 or 4 sins we struggle with throughout our time on this Earth. We will have countless our sins in our life, but these 3 or 4 are our cross to bear while we are here.

I will use myself as an example.

About 5 years ago, I realized I had a drinking problem. For the next 2 years trying to control it. I had a big internal struggle: Science says some alcoholics are born that way.

So this struggle was that A. I was born this way and B. If I didn't quit drinking, I was not living up to my potential. I work a lot of rock and roll, due to a career advancement, not as much now. I struggled with not drinking with the crew after the show...I didn't want to be seen as uncool.

3 years ago, I quit.

Every morning, before quitting, I would have 3 shots of vodka...it started as a good bourbon be became cheaper to buy a half gallon of cheap vodka a day as opposed to bourbon.

The first shot would immediately come back up. The second was rough.
The third and I was good to go.

The difference that time was the fact that i did 2 things differently:

A. I made the decision to quit drinking for good, even if it meant never working another gig. If you knew me in person, you would understand how big that is. I love, breathe, sleep, work, drive, and relax with music...

B. I asked my folks to have their pastor stop by. I tried to quit myself many times and couldn't.

After he left, I begged God to help me quit. After that prayer, I have never yearned for a drink again. The desire was taken away right then. I am blessed in that, I have friends who still struggle, who can't understand how that happened so fast, nothing short of a miracle.

Once in a while, a "friend" will offer me a drink. Once in a while, I will think why not and I feel immediately ill.

I still struggle with nicotine.

I believe we have these struggles to help us grow and become better humans by seeking our creator.

I used to laugh at people who quit drinking...I'd say something like all you have to do is quit, how hard can it be?

I found out first hand. Now I can help those around me.

I feel the same about all sins.

Obesity, drinking, anger, homosexuality, all of them. We are given these struggles to overcome, find our Creator, and help those around us as they struggle.

I do not think you can call yourself a Christian, and still live those lifestyles purposefully.

Saying I was born this way, accept me is a cop out.

We see this Gilgo Beach serial killer. Seems he was born with twisted desires.

Should we just say he is a killer because he was born that way and let him go about his way a free man? Make movies glorifying his life? Change the Methodist Church to say murder is ok because he was born that way?

Living a moral life can be hard. But if we strive to do the moral things, all of us, this world would not be as evil as it is.

Hmm….

Matthew 7

Judging Others

7 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

6 “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

Matthew 18:15-20
New International Version
Dealing With Sin in the Church

15 “If your brother or sister[a] sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’[c] 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

18 “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be[d] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[e] loosed in heaven.

Kudos for overcoming your life battles and the humility to admit them 👍

You’re one of the good ones.

Yet the people who point out the sins are very selective of the ones they care about.

2 to 6% of Americans are gay, queer or what ever. Why in the hell do we give them such a voice? Frankly why do we care?

Its about 5 %. That would be about 16 million people. They should have a voice. And who are "we"?

I wish vets had the same support and "voice" that the gay folks have.

Then again, vets just honored their country, made sacrifices no one will ever understand while gays did glitter parades.

-From an angry vet, deal with it.

Let's start a gay church. We can rewrite the scriptures to fit our doctrine (Queen James version).

Think of the tax benefits!

But that is human nature...even with those who don't believe in God or Sin.

Look, every progressive leftie I know, thinks Trump should die in prison. He had sex with a porn star, allegedly, she threatened to tell the world and sue him. His lawyer paid her off, in the process stealing from the Trump organization. Which he admitted.

Where is the same outrage over Tara Reid? Where is the same outrage for the now not so secret slush fund congress uses TO DO THE EXACT SAME THING.

And yes, Biden has used it. 2 or 3 times if I am not mistaken.

Biden as a senator had classified documents in his garage...a definite no no for senators. Hur decided he was old and senile, can't remember things, so a jury wouldn't convict him. So no charges or trials. The matter is settled and done.

Trump has classified documents in Mar lag o, he is raided, arrested, and going to trial. Never mind, as president he could declassified any thing he wanted. Never mind the fact that he didn't pack those boxes, the national archieve staff did. Never mind that fact the evidence was tampered with...admitted by Smith himself. You want him found guilty and jailed for that, too.

But in the lefts case, they don't rank the sins, they rank the person.

I think dogma attracts hypocrisy.

Any institution or group that beliefs they’re always right doubles down when they’re wrong.

You’re right that Trump is being charged for something that congress has a slush fund for and many politicians have done.

A reader of the Bible will find a passage in Matthew 13:25 that describes an enemy sowing weeds among the wheat. What you allude to is exactly the point it makes.

The Bible has very little to say about homosexuality, but much to say about sexual immorality in general.

To focus on a particular sin is unhealthy and an unbalanced view of what the Bible teaches.

The Bible does equate homosexuality and heterosexual infidelity as sins of equal consequence. As is gluttony. Those practicing such things will not inherit Gorn’s Kingdom it proclaims. Time to lay off all that processed food and shed some pounds!

However, it is quite specific about homosexuality, there is no ambiguity there, and that’s where you are not correct.

Thus is my sermon from my chair.

Can I get an, "Amen"?

AMEN!

Jesus said love everyone.

I find it funny that in 2024 churches are having schisms.

Love everyone does not mean accept any and all sin.
