This is the first time Iran is going through a situation in which a president is in a helicopter – and there’s a lot of uncertainty.

This entire issue looks like a plan to get rid of Ridi, that is what looks like.
I am leaning towards an inside job.
Nothing so romantic.
Fog can be a known cause of helicopter crashes. Been a fair few in The UK over the years.
Just bad luck that of the 3 (33.3%)...it was the President's helicopter that was brought down.

The incident comes as Iran under Raisi and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei launched an unprecedented drone-and-missile attack on Israel last month and has enriched uranium closer than ever to weapons-grade levels.
Iran has also faced years of mass protests against its Shiite theocracy over an ailing economy and women’s rights — making the moment that much more sensitive for Tehran and the future of the country as the Israel-Hamas war inflames the wider Middle East.

Can we assume there would be no survivors?

You’re probably right on the translation part. It’s very fast developing news and Al Jazeera is a state media outlet out of Quran.
My guess is first presidential helicopter accident.
Odd a country who hates the west uses an American Bell helicopter for the president though.
And some may blame it on western equipment. But a good helicopter pilot would fly above the mountains. A really good one wouldn’t fly through that fog.
