Come on, this is ATS. Cloud seeding, weather control, HAARP? Etc.

They flew in dense fog right into a mountain side.
Probably shouldn't have been flying to begin with.
The President was a very bad man.
I'm sure that he is experiencing the effects of being bad now in the afterlife.

I think it's unlikely that Iran tries to blame this directly on Israel or the West.

Remember, a few weeks ago when Israel "struck back," Iran's narrative was basically that Israel failed and Iran's enemies couldn't touch them.

Turning around now and saying that Israel or the US was able to sabotage or shoot down their President's helicopter would seem to be counterproductive to the narrative they've been trying to spin to their people.

Maybe they'll blame Western sanctions for the shoddy condition of their aircraft. I think we've already seen that. But even that will make Iran look weak in the eyes of their people, like they're incapable of maintaining aircraft without support from the infidels.

So I think it's more likely the official position of the Iranian government will be accident caused by bad weather or something to that effect.

The 212 can carry up to 14.

I’m pretty sure the pilots didn’t do a thorough flight risk assessment. Next time they should use a jet over the mountains and weather. Amateurs…

Some helicopters are instrument rated and can fly in foggy conditions. The Bell 212 isn't one of them. They have a limited instrument rating, but flying in mountains is tricky because they don't have a fast rotor response, and their high/hot capacity while loaded isn't great either.

Thank you.
It looks like there were 9 aboard this one.

Only the President was on a Bell 212, which has really bad high/hot characteristics, and sucks for mountain flying, as well as being VFR rated.

They’ve kind of blamed the west by saying our sanctions on them include stops on aviation parts for western equipment.

Not sure if that would have changed the result with the conditions they were flying in… But still a bad look when you proclaim to hate the west while trying to rely on them for things as well. Wonder why they don’t fly with Russian helicopters instead.

Just read something that gave some context for what happened in the events leading up to the Iranian helicopter accident.

They were in Azerbaijan meeting, and the Iranian president crumpled up a piece of paper and did a jump shot and said “Kobe” then missed. I don’t think we can discount this for what lead up to the incident.

I hope he suffered 10 times the amount of suffering he caused Iranians in his country.

Isn't this the dirtbag that raped and killed women for showing their hair?

It must say something about Irans economy when the helicopter they choose to use for the President is a decades old US made one.
Presumably due to sanctions they have not been getting genuine spare parts for it..yet still this is the one the president used instead of a shiny new russian/chinese model..

He signed off over 5000 execution orders over his career as Justice boss startng with huge amounts of political opposition to the islamic revolution, and presided over the more recent brutal crackdowns on the mostly women protesters who were shot or sent off to torture dungeons for wanting to be free.

Not to mention his direct involevement with co ordinating the many Iran backed terror outfits thoughout the middle east and the wider world for decades.

The guy was a real peach!

Bell makes good helicopters. The 212 isn’t their best, by any stretch of the imagination, but I’d still rather fly on it than a Russian or Chinese helicopter.
