If they have radar in the area they might have a general idea where they went down, but they can't find them because they can't see a damn thing. The heavy fog became rain, which became snow, and the entire area is blanketed. If you look at the video from the Turkish UAV you can see the area is totally socked in.

Wouldn’t it be odd for a president not to have some sort of transponder or sat phone?

I know they may not want to use the GPS system, but surely they could use the Russian one?

Just asking btw. Not sure if they have some weird OPSEC as a hermit type country.

Maybe UFO's got them, and will return everyone later.

Don Lemon's into black holes...I wonder if the Iranian President is too.

Maybe Iran's President was whisked away, because global Intel agencies said he was about to acquire and use nuclear weapons? "They" have been warning this would happen soon.

He was flying on a Bell 212, which has had so many issues that some countries grounded them. In 2021, a Canadian Coast Guard Bell 212 suffered a sheared strap pin that allowed the main rotor and rotor head to detach from the aircraft. It was introduced in 1968, with production ending in 1989 or so. They built 711 and somewhere around half of them were lost to accidents. They have had 430 incidents listed in safety databases. Not all of those hull losses, but a huge number of them are.

They have an ELT, but hard crashes tend to damage them, and mountains mask their signal. They have a transponder, you just don't always see it on public tracking sites. But once they get into the mountains they can roll after impact, or the mountain can mask their location, and they fly a fair distance from the last known return before hitting the mountain. Any number of things.

As for the satellite phone, you have to be alive to use it.

Wow. SEVENTY-THREE (73) rescue teams are on their way, or at the (believed) crash site.

I think it's daylight there now.

How many people would this helicopter be carrying?

The Turkish UAV has identified two potential sites that are likely to be the wreckage. It appears that they flew into the side of a mountain while in a valley. It may have rolled down the side of the mountain into the bottom of the valley.

Can we assume there would be no survivors?

Was just reading this but who knows how accurate it is🤷‍♂️

Search teams later told Iranian state TV that officials had found the helicopter and made contact with one passenger and one crew member, though that could not be confirmed.

Certainly all of the mechanics who worked on it will be killed.

Al Jazeera alleging the helicopter is found.

report

They report condition unconfirmed, but the story right below is examining the vice president. Could be just an exploitation of visibility on the story or them leading into the next.
