The people who participated and directly planned the attack should have been arrested for their crimes.
There is really no punishment that would be equivalent to their acts. I'm not a death penalty advocate but if they were killed it would be understandable.
I would have also been ok with the US providing additional defense. Whether patrolling the boarder or providing funds for additional safe guards.
I would also hold anyone who knew about the acts accountable as the people directly involved.

GO IDF!
Eliminate EVERY Hamass POS terrorist!
The sick thing about this comment is too many posters here on ATS have claimed that everyone in Palestine, including children, are POS terrorists.
It's a war crime to want to destroy a group of people based on ethnic/region/religion
What we think and feel doesn't matter. The sad reality is that BENJAMIN NETANYAHU thinks everyone in Palestine is expendable.
Is that why he warned the Palestinians about Rafah and told them to evacuate, providing them shelter, food and medical? Thatās not looking at a group as expendable nor is it genocide to all the bozos that keep saying it is. Use your brain care bear, I didnāt really expect you to be one one of the willfully obtuse ones like some of the others here. shrugs
Evacuate? To go where? There is nowhere they can go as their place from the North of Gaza to the South has been bombed relentlessly over the past few months. It's called ethnic cleansing, one of the many war crimes Israel has committed, together with mass murder of innocent civilians.

Must have been a school field trip outing? š
The basic principles for an agreement between the Israeli side and the Palestinian side in Gaza on the exchange of captives and prisoners between them and the return of sustainable calm.
The framework agreement aims at: The release of all Israeli captives in the Gaza Strip, civilians or military, alive or otherwise, from all periods, in exchange for a number of prisoners held by Israel as agreed upon, and a return to a sustainable calm that leads to a permanent ceasefire and a withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, its reconstruction and the lifting of the siege.
Hamas changed the language in the cease-fire deal it accepted Monday to count the bodies of dead hostages in a proposed swap for Palestinian prisoners, according to a shocking report.
The deal signed by Hamas also included an end to the war in Gaza ā something the Israeli side said it would not accept.
But one of the biggest changes reportedly came in the language around the 33 Israeli hostages who were set to be released in exchange for a cease-fire.
While the original deal called for 33 living hostages, Hamas changed the wording to include 33 hostages āalive or bodies,ā officials told public broadcaster KAN TV.
Israeli officials have blasted the proposal as significantly different from what Israel had initially said it would agree to.

Aid groups said on Monday their medical services in Rafah have been affected by the start of Israel's operation in the southern Gaza city, with some services suspended and medical teams blocked.
Israel carried out airstrikes in Rafah on Monday and told Palestinians to evacuate parts of the city where more than a million people uprooted by the seven-month war have been crowded together, often in filthy conditions that have contributed to the spread of diarrhoea and disease.
"As more people flee and violence continues here, services like these will be forced to suspend indefinitely ā cutting thousands off from lifesaving food, medicine, and other aid," said Moses Kondowe, Project HOPE's Gaza team lead based in Rafah, warning of a spike in malnutrition and illness.
Hamas's control of Gaza should be seen through the lens of a mafia controlling Gaza. The Hamas control of Gaza has many elements of a cartel.
seven months into this war in Gaza. Hamas attacked Israel onĀ October 7Ā and massacred 1,000 people and killed 250. However, Hamas did not do this in a vacuum. Hamas carried out its unprecedented attack, massacring more Jews than at any time since the Holocaust, because it believed it had cover to do this. Hamas is hosted by Qatar, a major non-NATO ally of the US.
Hamas has been hosted in Qatar since 2012, and reports say that Washington asked Doha to host Hamas. On October 7, Hamas leaders who live in Qatar gathered for a photo-op celebrating the attack. They didnāt feel they need to run and hide. They knew that they were not just safe in Doha but that being hosted by a Western ally gave them protection and cover.
On MayĀ 6, Hamas claimed to have agreed to a hostage and ceasefire deal with Israel. Hamas had been rejecting deals for months, so it came as a surprise. Israel had launched an operation in Rafah on May 6 after asking residents to evacuate eastern Rafah. Was it the pressure of the operation that led to Hamas accepting a deal? It turns out the ādealā was different than the oneĀ Israel had been privy to. Instead, according to a report at Axios, there was a kind of bait and switch where Hamas had held talks with the US, Qatar, and Egypt and agreed to a different deal that is much worse for Israel than the previous ones Israel had agreed to. Axios reported that Israeli officials felt they had been āplayedā by the US and the mediators in Doha and Cairo.

That's from AlJazeera .. and it's incorrect.
There was no deal to release all the hostages.
Hamas said it would release DEAD BODIES.
And it said that Hamas would have to be left in charge and functioning.
Following Hamas chief Ismail Haniyehās announcement that a deal was accepted, Israeli officials told multiple outlets that the deal presented to the terror group was a āsoftenedā version of what was really on the table and is not being taken seriously by Jerusalem.

Hard to verify that story is actually true. Suspicious it would all happen so suddenly on the day Israel started evacuating Civilians in that area. Hmmmm.
AND, why is Egypt barring Palestinians from crossing into Egypt??????? I thought Egypt was such a loving Country for fellow Muslims??? š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
