In effect they said they were just here to educate ignorant evil Republicans.

It looks like a freaking mission impossible. Must have been Tom Cruise and his clones then.

If we are to take everything told to us at face value, then if they risked the capital involved in the purchasing of ATS, only to lose it then their pockets must be pretty deep.

Deeper than say hocking crystals to an audience that may be interested.

That presupposes that the sale price was high. It may have been sold for a beer and a cheeseburger for all we know.

It was stated that the new owner is a huge BC profiteer.

Doesn’t surprise me that they lost interest. Probably on a yacht somewhere.

Years back, there were several posters that heavily invested in BC when it was low, and spoke about it here.

We could probably find them by looking at old posts. Because I highly doubt the person that bought the place was not a member previously.

I did pretty well with BTC back in the day.

But that money is long spent and I have only scars and a few alcohol-soaked blurry memories of that time period.

It looks like the site was sold off in segments? From what I remember hearing

If they rolled it out to Joe public how long did they have it ? I remember a poster here talking about AI at his work NASA ? & and it would have been 20 years ago that he was talking about and it did not seem a great deal to him , it was like I have Google on my phone kind of deal .

That may have been me in my previous incarnation as Riffrafter.

But it wasn't NASA. It was the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).

Or maybe it wasn't me after all. You'd have to find and link the post here.

I don't need to know who the moneys is coming from to volunteer my posts and my moderator work, I do it because of the other users, not because of who owns it.

Yes, knowing who owns it would be nice, and if they are nice persons, even better, but I don't see any need to know that, as money or where who pays it doesn't change what I do or how I do it. At most it could mean I would leave ATS, but as long as I'm here I will act in the same way I have been acting in these almost 20 years.

I think it was Sayonora Jupiter ? Who talked about it many years ago on here . I never thought we would be here so soon ! But if what they are showing Joe public is 20 + years behind what is available and with Sam Alt man and his AI breaking TBC code there is billions lost/hidden away in wallets ripe for looting no wonder they sacked him ?

That's why other members need to call them out on their bullsh#t every single time.

Agreed, i just get an itch when calling out the shills, also calls out ones own confirmation bias.

The one-sided blame game is a big give away of propaganda, or immaturity...

Really?

What segments?

I didn't realize you could break this site down into segments.

I'd be very interested to learn what you believe those segments are.

Can you share?

I wrote a thread lin July last year about selling merchandise and trying to drum up some support and new members www.abovetopsecret.com...

I am sure the information was in another thread about how the place was broken up and sold off because I did the last post in the above link on October and was not best pleased at the non action of the darkos or the new owners explaining this to the members here .

The exact details elude me now due to my dementia problems but I will dig around and see if I can locate the thread in the board and business area

Knowing if they work for a foreign government also means knowing if we are aiding and abetting an enemy by furthering their agendas. Whether someone is a nice person or not is a pretty juvenile way of looking at this from where I stand.

How do you know if someone is nice or not, or lying to you or not, or using you as a tool? How would you know any of this if you don't know who they are or can't even follow the money in the first place and deduce an agenda?

Money exposes agendas, regardless of how nice or not nice someone makes themselves appear on the surface.

I can't think the way you do... I need to know. I need to know my participation is not causing more harm than good.

I still have one question outstanding.

Who was the person logging on and moderating the site before there was allegedly an ability to do so? Was it the secretly absentee owners logging on as locked out moderators?

For a conspiracy site, the willingness of everyone to accept the status quo on this is very perplexing to me. The one that did arise was a narrative where the owners in absentia hold resentment that manifests through sock accounts that break up the echo chamber, purposely, serving a greater Agenda.

I mean there were obvious things happening.

Nevermind, Nothingtosee.

If the site was generating its own content, I could see why you might have a concern. But, this site is just a repository of user generated discussion and comments. In that case, the site might be able to influence a discussion by moderating out content they don't like and allowing content they do like. But historically, they've usually had good reason for moderating out certain content, like hate speech for example. There are other places people can post that but it's not wanted here, at least if it's racially biased or something. I guess it's OK to hate politicians for lying to us all the time, LOL, but at least there's no racial bias in that.

I don't follow this line of thought. Your post says what it says. I don't see how ownership of the site changes the content of your post...it doesn't.

There was some suspicious activity on this site on or around May 20, 2023 where a lot of long time members were banned, for no reason that I was able to determine. Otherwise it's usually not that hard to find out why some ATS members got banned, when they repeatedly violated certain rules in the terms and conditions. But it may not even be the new owner who banned all those people, it could be some kind of rogue administrator the new owner hired, where maybe the rogue admin just didn't like their views on some topic so banned them for that, and not because of any terms and conditions violation, because those long time members generally didn't violate the T&C...if they did, they wouldn't have been long-time members.

Thanks for posting that link. Interesting reading. At that time those posts were made I hadn't been participating on ATS for a number of years. Not out of anger or pique, just got busy doing other things.

Who/what were the Darko's?

Sounds ominous...

I believe they were hired by the new owners to run the site, although they seemed to try and come off more as the actual owners. My theory is that they were either let go or told to back off because owners are going to let the site die. I also think they may have went rogue after that fact and were possibly even some of the bad actors when SHTF🤷‍♂️.

Interesting.

And the name "Darko"?

C'mon man!

And why would the new owners want the site to die?

If that's the case, why buy it in the first place?

🤔

IIRC they claimed to be female and wanting to run as a Republican candidate - have a vague memory of them stating their political ambitions either just prior or after the sale or after enough users voiced their concerns over the lack transparency.

Sounded very fishy either way as never heard of a politician who doesn't promote their name/brand at every oppurtunity especially when making investments with the sole intention of running for office.
