It is speculation, but from what I have read about what happened, it all points to an attempt at gaining access to the database through an SQL injection.

From what chatter I picked up online a while ago ArMap , a certain Darko was on Reddit looking for people to attack the site ? .

DARKO was a azzhat. HE prolly pissed of his GF/wifes Daddy who actually owned it and now that they are seperated he wants to get revenge,no matter how petty.

I made a program to read the threads, extract the HTML from individual posts and save them on an MS SQL database.

It wasn't hard to do, my biggest problem was lack of free time to do it.

Not sure if you're kidding or not, but there actually IS a monstrous, absolutely humongous, NSA datacenter...in Utah! Probably one of the largest datacenters on Earth, last time I checked. The had to rework the power grid of an entire city in Utah to support it, and even that wasn't enough.

I'm not. Sadly, I went there for a bit, but the non-stop meme's were just too much for me. So, I left.

edit - Some people seem to think everyone else just loves meme's, but they just don't understand some people simply cannot stand them. Regardless of how cute some of the subject matter may be, they are a capital interference with just about everything!

Oh, you must be one of them!! LOL!!

So I wanted to check this out another way and I remembered that the actual owner of the ATS is The Above Network, LLC.

Then I tried going to that website and it's blank... Link

Then I did a whois for the umbrella website and that expired in April this year, on the 9th. whois

So it looks like this will expire as well, if The Above Network hasn't had any updates or activity.
