Except that wasn't Trump's plan. He wanted Pence to reject the duly selected elector slates and accept the fake elector slates he had sent to Congress.
Do you believe that was within Pence's authority?

So you believe that Pence had the authority to unilaterally overturn the will of voters by throwing out duly selected electors, pursuant to the Electoral Count Act, but the SOS of Maine doesn't have the authority to unilaterally remove someone from the ballot even though that power is enshrined in Maine's constitution?
Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

Holy crap you decided to be a part of the community.
Even if a person is banned from appearing on a ballot, could you still write them in? Could they win by write in votes?
No. If a candidate is ineligible, then even a write in cannot be counted.

So then your position is that this was a legitimate protest of the election result it sounds like. Do you have any evidence to support your position?

It was a protest..period. That protest turned somewhat violent and people entered the capital. Once inside the capital, the mood changed back to being more observers of what was happening, and then people left.
At what point did the insurrection happen? The vote was delayed a few hours and was restarted the same day. No one was taken hostage, no demands were made, and no long sit-ins or anything.
Others enter the Capitol. sop not something new...
Here was the insurrection...lol
Seems when others do it is called a protest, and when buildings are burned, people die, and crime is rampant it is called mostly peaceful protest, but when conservatives do it then it is called insurrection.

But short answer to your OP you're absolutely correct. It's wrong and sets dangerous and insane precedence. It's really like 1984.

At what point did everyone forget that the looters and rioters for BLM and George Floyd resulted in wild amounts of injury, damage, etc. and I'm supposed to care more about some sort of ANTIFA psy-op that happened to screw with Trump? The politicians don't like that he doesn't play their game (ie. be the best liar and use your oration to stick to party lines/sew dissent with the 'opposing' political party when in reality both parties are just playing together and taking turns doing A or B and using the fake discord between politicians to polarize issues, in order to garner interest and sympathy among the populace).
Sooo...I didn't want to sound like a jerk but you seriously believe that the 'insurrection' wasn't just a planned event made specifically to sew discord among the populace and (poorly and lazily) implicate Trump.
You seem like an otherwise normal and rational person...tell me: Do you really believe that Trump had anything to do with it? You don't really believe that, do you?
Oh and not saying he was right about the election, but when I tried to cast my vote, I broke the ballot machine in my upper-middle class suburban library. And the election people at the library had an official ballot box I.T. worker that was present. Apparently I wasn't the only one whose paper vote literally broke the machine and destroyed who knows how many votes.
I'm like a boomer--and boomers are absolutely not going rioting. Ew. It sounds so crass.
You have to admit something fishy is going on, even if you don't want to say what it is or isn't.
I feel like Semper Fi is a good motto to have, nowadays. (I mean no disrespect in saying it and if I'm not supposed to say it, then sorry, but part of the reason I care so much is due to my friends and family who served our country).

You even say "insurrection lol"
EDIT: Once more I will say, consevatives aren't trying to burn down buildings and riot. Most conservatives are older people and we just aren't as fun as liberals. We don't protest: We join grassroots groups, write to representatives, run for local office, write to lobbyists--TLDR: We do things the legal and correct way because unlike the young and uneducated (well, poorly educated since liberal arts school was fun--thank God I got mine for free--but it would be easy to not pay attention and pass.
3. Making protests and riots 'fashionable' is something that those on the left of the political spectrum do, due to their desire to champion virtue signalling (due to their personal insecurity, stemming from a lack of care and a lack of technical knowledge)
The left tries to pretend they're all accepting and great, but they're actually a bunch of racists who are politically illiterate and rely on their feelings instead of logic.

Not participating in an insurrection is a requirement to be President.

Eh. Why, though? I get my information from peer reviewed studies, formal education, history books, current news and events, but mainly I know that my analysis is good due to my background in comparative politics.
Ignorance is powerful! It's everywhere :/ Alas.
