A federal judge has dismissed Donald Trump's request for a new trial in a civil case in which a jury found him liable for sexually abusing and defaming columnist E Jean Carroll.
Mr Trump was ordered to pay $5m (£3.9m) in damages, which he argued was excessive based on the jury's verdict.
The jury found Mr Trump guilty of battering the columnist, but stopped short of finding the former president guilty of rape.

How does it feel to have wasted hours circle jerking tangents and arguments you already lost. 😃

Okay. So, what are the on-topic empirical facts that you're asserting, that my tangential posts are deflecting from in this thread?
Because all I'm hearing is a bunch of whimpering and whining about unfair poor little Trump is being treated by the mean, mean liberals, debunking your arguments!
Trump has never been charged or convicted of insurrection.
The Constitution does not allow for people to be disqualified from running for President based on accusations.
SCOTUS will undoubtedly rule the Colorado decision unconstitutional and Trump will be on the ballot.
Now you're rolling it back to the lack of due process again.
You cannot have an insurrection against yourself. Hew as the sitting POTUS.
They disbanded with no criminal convictions of Trump
Those who voted for him in 2020 could give two farts less....and more will vote for him in 2024.

trump will wipe the floor with his opponents at the debates...oh wait.
The US President is not a king. The President takes an oath to uphold and defend the US Constitution during their 4 year term of office. The insurrection was against the US Constitution
The Senate has no power to vote to convict anyone of a crime. They can only vote that an officer of the USA is guilty of the charges listed in the articles of impeachment, and vote that he must leave office and not run for office again. Only the Judicial Branch can convict a person of a crime. That's why Trump is facing 91 charges and 4 indictments in criminal court.
