50yo man identifies as female, granted access to little girls' locker room and swim competition

All this fuss about nudity and assumptions that this man was gawking at the girls. You're really gonna flip your lids when you find out about family friendly nudist colonies and families who practice the tradition in the privacy of their own homes.

I know in our dominant culture that there are stereotypes about men's roving eyes when it comes to the fair sex and of course it's good to be cautious because there are predators, opportunists and vouyers aplenty out there but there are also folks to whom being nude is no big deal...it's just the natural state of the human body.

Not every human being is a slave to rudimentary biological instinct and urges and just because it dominates others in a variety of manifestations doesn't make it a defacto universal constant.

If you want your young kids/teens naked around 50 year old men, that is your choice to expose them to family nudist colonies.

The parents in question have the right to raise their kids how they see fit; away from 50 year old naked pervs.

Had that man been found with pictures of young girls in various states of undress, he would be arrested, but in Canada he can just waltz into a locker room and see it live.

Among the reasons why locker rooms are divided according to biological sex are that 94% of sexual crimes are committed by men, and men have physical advantages over women. Gender expression doesn't change this fact.

Herein lies the problem...the growing emergence of coed dressing spaces in traditionally segregated facilities.

I'm not the type to buck the status quo and am pretty old school traditional myself in a lot of respects but I remember being a toddler showering with my father on base with a bunch of grown men minding their business and the worst I dealt with was trying to evade the four year old boy who kept chasing me and trying not to slip on the wet tile.

Usually when we came back from the beach and went to the showers I was with my mom in a private stall but when she couldn't look after me dad took over parental duties.

If this 50 year old man is allowed to change in the woman's dressing room there should be no problem with a fully dressed male figure being present to watch over the well being of the women and girls.

I didn't read the article because I'm on mobile so I don't know what kind d of facility this incident occurred at or what their official policy is about such matters but it's definitely a complicated issue when various traditions and practices collide and there's no easy solution to these new policies.

But to automatically assume he was staring and gawking at the girls just because he's a biological male is unfounded.

My heart goes out to the mothers in this case and I applaud their quick thinking in constructing a towel fort to protect their innocence but until we have enough resources to construct facilities specifically for use by the demographic it's gonna be uncomfortable.

But this is not just a public area. I understand that. A beach. A club. A pool. The issue I have is this was a competition with young girls. That to me changes it.

There is no reason that the person who is causing the issue could not use some discretion.

If it was indeed a competition against young girls what was his winning time?

Too much about this story doesn't add up for me and it smacks of sensationalist hyperbole to get a rise out of folks.

Is it possible he was just swimming in his own lane for his own practice and people are making a huge outrage that the facilities weren't closed off to cater exclusively to the girls swim competition?

All the pools I've been to had lanes assigned to various groups during such events and just because the kids were competing that day it somehow negates the rights of adults to have their own swim time?

I understand territorial imperatives and how fussy people can get about private parties and events and how some folks will start making outrageous claims and assumptions when they don't get their way or something unexpected occurs that doesn't suit their personal persuasion.

Histrionics jumping to conclusions crying foul and anything to make themselves the righteous moral individual persecuted and victimized by others because they don't like people outside of their safe gated communities where everyone is on the same page about how things should be done.

This seems pretty standard from all camps--the ones who advocate for 50 year old men in changing rooms with young ladies and girls, the ones against, and the "moderate, reasonable, there are many ways to view this situation" are all considering themselves morally superior and attributing all sorts of rage and histrionics etc to those they disagree with.

In fact, most people consider themselves to be morally superior to others I wrote a thread about it once.

Changing stalls with a privacy curtain.

Some women are modest too so it's a win win.

Shouldn't that be 94% of sexual crimes are committed by heterosexual men, for the sake of clarity? I can't find the source for your statistic but that would sound about right to me. Did you also read how much more vulnerable LGBTQ+ individuals are to sexual and violent crime also committed mainly by heterosexual men?

I personally think the organisers and the venue messed up, better provision should have been made to protect this individual from this kind of abuse.

Nope, born a male, think like a male, act like a male, forever. Men who transition to mimic women are also WAY more likely to commit sex crimes than women.
More proof of the biological differences between males and females. If one needed more proof.

This only applies to a narrow population, so yes if your daughter is incarcerated she is more likely to be vulnerable to male sex offenders who pretend to be transgender in order to gain access to vulnerable women and thereby reoffend. It is more common than you would think.

But other than in your's and other's imaginations, the individual concerned is not a sexual offender, and certainly not a convicted one.

The statistics I've highlighted are in no way meant to be an indictment on men in general. Good men are the most wonderful, amazing creatures on earth, in my opinion. The good ones have an instinct to protect and take care of others and use their strength to serve and help others.

That said, the percentage of sex crimes committed by men is staggering and shows a clear difference in thought (where rape begins) and deed, and a physical advantage which allows them to dominate women. Men seem to be less able to control their impulses. We're built differently, and it shows in many different ways.

The above though is the most relevant to this thread. Women need their own changing rooms.

That's why girls and women should really be covered from head to toe always and everywhere - except when they're having sex. They should also eat in the kitchen separate from the men. And not work with them if it can be avoided. Men are just awful

Hate is the word you ascribe to me. I don't use that word often, nor feel that feeling when it comes to anyone I don't know (and very very few that I've met).

I am an advocate for women, though. Especially women's athletics as that was/is a very large part of my life.
