The subject says it all.

The Flat-Earth concept has exploded on YouTube and TikTok over the past 5-10 years. Dozens upon dozens of angry flat earth proponents are creating ridiculous videos with poorly contrived "evidence" to indicate we live on a motionless flat plane, calling "globe believers" Globetards.

The idea of a flat earth has been lumped into the general category of conspiracy theories as a means to showcase the lunacy all conspiracy theory people.

Lumped into "flat earth" are the notions that the International Space Station isn't real, all photos of space are fake, the earth is young, and all of science is lying to us to hide the truth.

Ten years ago, "flat earthers" were generally dismissed and politely sent packing here on ATS. Today, the notion has exploded to the point were popular flat earth personalities are regularly invited to present at (mostly Christian) schools.

Is this one of the more effective methods to discredit all of conspiracy theory?

Deepstate.....

Well, I think you get the point.

Now that doesn't prove flat earth is real or will be eventually proven as such. But it does speak to what you are trying to convey with shooting the messenger.

I've always said that one of the greatest conspiracies is hiding real and genuine conspiracies inside a huge volume of false conspiracies that are promoted with the primary intention of discrediting the 'conspiracy movement'.

Flat earth is a very good example of those false conspiracies.

I've got to say though that flat earth threads can be a great source of humour - some of the nonsense spouted in them have made me literally piss my pants laughing.

I seem to recall the CIA started promoting the Hollow Earth and Flat Earth "theories" around the same time, starting in the late 50's and early 60s. They were also pushing Charles Hapgood's Crustal Earth Displacement theory at the time. I can't remember if it was on UseNet alt.conspiracy in 1980 or 1985 when I read the alleged CIA paper on promoting alternate theories to confuse any social conversation. It was a long time ago, I may or may not have the original images someplace, but I doubt it. I was running Control Data equipment, CBMs, Apple 2 and the first 8088 IBM ATs between 80 and 85 and I went Africa in 86, so it would be a real hunt for those old Flexi's, 5.25" and 8" disks. The other problem would be, I don't have any 5.25" or 8" drives kicking around here anymore lol.

Cheers - Dave

You’re clearly directing this at one specific member.

T & C’s = names can’t be mentioned.

I know whom you’re speaking of.

However, that poster does provide other valid / insightful content.

Where does the final line in the Sand get drawn? How controls it?

We need all perspectives. Ridiculous or not.

I think the ship has sailed over the horizon on that notion.

I have no idea who that might be, I've only recently begun posting again.

I'm referring to the inexplicable rise of "flat earther" channels on YouTube, for example.

Has it though?

In the post above, you go on to note the rise in YT channels that use the theory as content.

Now the obvious conclusion is that it's entertainment. Yet the merging of fantasy and reality has never been more socially acceptable than it is today, arguably.

My daughter's stepdaughter in college and pretty much a smart girl started to get into this flat earth theory, to the point that she even got into a discussion with my daughter and even became violent in her believe.

Tik Tok is a Chinese influencer, has been warnings about the agenda of the Chinese on American young people, even recently the FBI has been warning on the bad effects of Tik Tok on young minds.

What I can not understand is how universities or schools with higher learning will be pushing Tik Tok influences in children.

If the earth is flat and it's surrounded by an ice wall, by all means go to the end of the earth and take a darn picture soo I can see it.

If I do not see is nothing but bull crap and a lie, our children's brain have been turned into marshmallows by china tik tok.

In 1967 The CIA released a dispatch that coined the label “conspiracy theory” and “conspiracy theorists” to attack anyone who challenged the official narrative from the Warren Commission. It’s interesting to note that the document is labelled “psych”, for psychological operations or disinformation. It’s also marked “CS copy” at the bottom, meaning “Clandestine Services” Unit.

Take the 5-10 minutes needed to read this.

It is the groundwork that was laid for what is happening now and is rather important.

I do find them extra intriguing though. I have never been able to put my finger on it, is it religion or what? The "we have never been to the moon" and the "the earth is only 6000 years old" can actually debate their points to some logic based on their belief, BUT the flat earthers have nothing, but still think as they do.

I remember the 7000 posts on whether Criss Angel's magic was real or not. Damn, I'm going to post on that again to revive it... Even that one can say "what if" and kind of get away with it, but flat earth...geez

If one can assume that there are people who can think down a path that is so ridiculous then it can be used as a tool to suggest all conspiracies are the same... What are you? Are you some Flat Earther? Is the popular slang.

Do you think there was more than one shooter with JFK (60 years ago tomorrow) what are you? A Flat Earther? See how it works?

A common flat earth trope is that doing so would be impossible as all the navies of the world guard Antarctica and keep people away.

One of the worst offenders. If anyone was "paid" to promote the nonsense, it would be Dubay.

Context

Flat Earth
Wikipedia
Flat Earth is an archaic and scientifically disproven conception of the Earth's shape as a plane or disk. Many ancient cultures subscribed to a flat-Earth cosmography. The model has undergone a recent resurgence as a conspiracy theory. The idea of a spherical Earth appeared in ancient Greek philosophy with Pythagoras.

Have you never gone down the mental rabbit hole of thinking that everything you've been told is a lie. Something like the Truman Show?

Flat earth and to a lesser extent Q seem a pursuit to those ends.

Darn it reads like a fantasy story with the Faries dancing to the end of the wolrd.

Yes I been sarcastic, since when we glorified fantastic voyagers over common sense.

I should mind my own business; we all know that in America ideologies are real and reality is a dream.

Lol.

Spot on. The layers keep piling up. The waters get more murky, and soon no one is sure where the fantasy ends and the conspiracy begins. All by design.

Reptilians or Archons? We may never know.
