My age has nothing to do with the thread....

If you notice in the quote from the OP you included "from what I saw and remember" That is called an opinion and observation

When I was growing up, yes you had people who were die hard for one side or the other, but it was never like it is now, at least from what I saw and remember.

How old were you during the Vietnam War and the Summer of Love? Kent State? How old were you when Malcom X, Martin Luther King Jr, Robert and John F Kennedy were assassinated? Selma, Birmingham, New York, Chicago, Watts racial conflict?

Somethings just don't change.

IMO organized religion with antiquated and outdated beliefs -- is the #1 cause of human evolution disruption -- other than natural disasters. (excluding people with a religious nature for good that don't force their belief on others).

Goldwater hit the nail on the head:

“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”

How about what we actually lived through in real time.

I was a senior in high school when the Civil Rights Act was passed.

It still "guts me" that this didn't happen sooner than 60 years ago.

What would you say an observation is?

Okay, good for you? When did this thread turn into being about racism?

Actually, living through an experience is a fact. No matter opinion of experience,

Did I bring up racism? NO -- that is you.

Equal Rights is about Equal Rights.

No need to get all defensive about your age, there, Scout!

You said that your opinions and observations stem from "when you were growing up" and how people then weren't like how they are now.

When I was "growing up" I observed those "die hard" things happen. So, my opinions and observations are calling BS on your opinions observations. Some things never change.

Humans have a "higher sense of self"?

Prove it.

Beyond that, you agreed with my main point, so, whatever. LOL.

I have to assume that was sarcasm since it was so far removed from reality...

Yes, humans have evolved more than other apes. Perhaps I should say more than most other apes. I am not so sure about you... No, not all so-called 'hormonal creatures' are pack animals. No, not all groups immediately fight with other groups. You assertions and assumptions are just bloviating garbage.

And no, I do not agree with your main point. In fact, your post is so disjointed I am not even sure what your point was...but if believing I agree with you gets you through the night, go for it. Its nice to know my approval means so much to you.

BAMN, the moment that became an acceptable strategy cheered on by the media and members of the establishment.

Once the elites normalized it, it was inevitable that the peons on "that team" would start to spout it, and eventually the other side would as well... good for the goose and all that.

When did this country turn to insults/death threats/threats of violence/acts of violence/etc.,

Salem, MA.

We have never changed. That's why the subject is eternally fascinating to anthropologists.

today? substitute 'progressive ideologues' and 'Democrat party'. they are the ones, today, who refuse to compromise, and are convinced at their own righteousness.

I honestly wonder how the "left" and the "right" don't see that they are acting exactly the same. Every one must be wearing those glasses.

No, not really.

Motto of the Right: "Right is Right"

If you don't agree you're wrong. They don't even look sideways.

Genuine Conservatives are few and far between.

No it doesn't.

But the Right keeps repeating that.

The Left pretty much gets bulldozed by the Right -- they need to stand their ground.

Yes it does, unfortunately.

Two tribes willing to go to war against the "others" due to intolerance and inflexibility. And they don't care if it all burns down around them so long as they can say they were right.

Observation is fact, kind of hard to observe something that never happened..., not something I should have to explain to someone as old as you claim to be.

You are your buddy on the red dress are the ones that brought up civil rights movement and civil rights activists. My thread is about red v blue, left v right.

Again, red v blue not about equal rights
