You answered to my point, insinuating I hated Christians, and I wasn't applying adult logic...

the bibles that are seem to vary quite a bit when it comes to the criteria that allow one into heaven.

Maybe there is a heaven for each Bible?

That or you'll have all kinds of people that did not adhere to the same rules as you, but went to heaven nevertheless.

If you had any understanding of logic, you would have been able to follow it.

Like I said all the different “bibles” purport to show us how to be good and do good. The social norms vary greatly. Some value conquest, some value turning the other cheek.
You only cite Christian ideas when you’re finger pointing. That’s not logic. That’s simply reading your posts.
The fact that you don’t just say all the religions have upside, all have downside, and all could be used nicely ….. is your logic problem. Give it a try, it won’t hurt. Well, maybe your brain will tell you that it hurts for the next 7 minutes.

I've had a few cats in my life.
Twice it came down to euthanasia.

The last time; the tests, diagnoses, anesthetics, and euthanasia came to over $800. I paid it gladly. After the morphine shot, she was finally free of the pain, looked more at peace than in the prior three days. Seeing that peace is when I left.

But there was a time when I had no money to spare, and not even a gun. It was with my bare hands.

I wish that I had always had a few extra bucks to spend.

This should be the capstone for this thread ……

Person A, They are the most purest soul around and super friendly beyond measure. They do charity work and help people and don’t do much wrong against others. But they don’t believe in God and are not religious.

Person B, They have raped and murdered many people and show no remorse or care for their actions. They do not care for people and doing anything positive or good. But they do believe in God, They love God and read the Bible every single day and go to Church.

This probably isn’t a proper realistic scenario and it’s not meant to be. I’d just like to see what other people’s thoughts and opinions are about this. I do believe in God but don’t really understand certain parts of the Bible and Christianity and this kind of question has always been interesting to me.

Being a good person and a righteous person are two different things. There is even a scripture that differentiates between the two:

"For hardly would anyone die for a righteous man; though perhaps for a good man someone may dare to die."-Romans 5:7.

Jesus even refused to acknowledge he was good when he was called "good teacher:"

"Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit everlasting life?” Jesus said to him: 'Why do you call me good? Nobody is good except one, God.'"-Mark 10:17-18.

The righteous man can be counted on to adhere faithfully to the requirements of the law, but a good man does more. He takes the initiative, actively seeking ways to benefit others.

But, to show you that none of this qualifies a person to go to heaven scripture says:

"For he says to Moses: “I will show mercy to whomever I will show mercy, and I will show compassion to whomever I will show compassion.” So, then, it depends, not on a person’s desire or on his effort, but on God, who has mercy."-Romans 9:15-16.

So it depends not a a person's works, as if being good and righteous could get them into heaven. It is God's mercy. And he can show it to whomsoever he chooses. Notice also it is not by anything a human does, righteous or good, but by his faith that he is granted this free gift:

"By this undeserved kindness you have been saved through faith, and this is not of your own doing; rather, it is God’s gift. No, it is not a result of works, so that no one should have grounds for boasting."-Ephesians 2:8-9.

That does not mean that a wicked person will enter into the kingdom in heaven. The scripture clearly tells us that people who are unrighteous will NOT enter into the kingdom:

"Or do you not know that unrighteous people will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Do not be misled. Those who are sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, men who submit to homosexual acts, men who practice homosexuality, thieves, greedy people, drunkards, revilers, and extortioners will not inherit God’s Kingdom."-1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

I do like what you wrote about the religions.
Basic sociology.

Religions are parts of our cultural fabric.
Function: Stated Purpose, Mission Statement
Misfunction: Other purposes served; community, togetherness, social cohesion
Dysfunction: Those things they do contradicting their stated purpose.

We live in a socially diverse culture. We just gotta accept that.

My favourite Twilight Zone is the one where the old fella and his dog drown while hunting and they end up at the gates and the gate guy says “no dogs in Heaven”. The old guy tells him off and goes down the road, and runs into a second gate / guy, who says “I’m glad you didn’t fall for that, he’s Satan trying to trick you !”
And of course dogs go to Heaven.
It’s a great one.

I can't deny the finger pointing, and I can't even cite christian ideas to justify the finger-pointing. It sucks...

Maybe I should change strategy and I'd become a good person because my finger-pointing is backed by Christian ideas?

I get your point, anyone observing the dynamics around here will get mine too.

Or, do you want me to elaborate?

Did you just admit to all the silliness, and announce it’s OK because somebody else “something something something” ?
Yes, you did.

Every time I think I can’t be amazed even more….

So, are posts just disappearing without even the obligatory penalty PM, and shame-box for all to see, where the post used to be ?

Terpene said something about Jesus being 2000 years late, and I responded with something from Bishop Barron, about a group of biblical characters.

Poof, gone. Or, somebody tell me where I lost my mind between threads or something.

I did, indeed.

It's ok to be called out when using stupid rhetorics, it's even better to admit it... Because it's there for all to read, no point in denying it.

I think it actually shows a certain maturity to admit such things publicly.

I also call alot of people out for their silly rhetorics, I'm sure you noticed.
But denial is strong in these parts of the woods, so here you are thinking you're nailing me down when I'm leading you along...

As for your insinuation about my feelings towards Christians, there are mostly good people, and unfortunately for all ideology driven social constructs the assholes are the loudest.

Thats why I stay away from those social constructs.

The problem is, when none of his peers call them out for being idiots and using stupid rhetorics, or worse all fall for the same logical fallacy.

Well i stay away because i don't want to be guilty by association, because some idiot had to use stupid rhetoric.

It should be called out by more on all sides, so here is a medal for you

I don't own a farm or ranch out in the country.
The cats are here in the town whether I take them in or not.

Out in more rural areas I lost a cat to coyotes.

That's a very good reason to disassociate. The loudest end up in the leadership positions too. Screamers leading the screamers.

On social media, people should always stay anonymous. Honesty comes when you know that your mom or sister or pastor is not reading your stuff.

Those where some nice weeks before the new batch ruined the mornings...
