Per video of crash, it looks like engine failure and loss of flight controls; that would mean that the plane's hydraulic systems were possibly impacted as well.

The plane looks pretty much intact as it plummets nose down, which might indicate that the pilot was trying to gain airspeed to avoid a stall, but could not enough control once the nose came up.


Maybe a small heat-seeker up the tailpipe of an engine? Or maybe a smaller on-board bomb designed to take out the hydraulics and engine controls?

Prigozhin's recorded video message follows information that over a thousand Wagner Group mercenaries have departed Belarus because they are unhappy with their pay, the Ukrainian military's National Resistance Center reported on Aug. 19.

Sources in Belarus told the Center that the number of Wagner fighters had fallen from 5,800 to 4,400.

According to the center's report, "lack of funding from Russia" is the cause. Dissatisfied with their earnings, Wagner mercenaries stationed in Belarus have signed contracts to fight in African nations or left for vacation without the intention of returning.

Something clearly alerted bystanders to the plane since they started filming well before the impact. That would indicate an explosion of some kind. Whether that was from some external force or a catastrophic failure of the engine is now what needs to be determined.

That aircraft was not intact on the way down. You can see fuel streaming behind it as it is crashing. That means there was significant damage to at least one wing, allowing fuel to leak.

Witnesses reported hearing sound that fit an air defense battery firing, and at least two trails heading towards the aircraft before it crashed.

The Russian CAA has confirmed Prigozhin and Dmitry Utkin were on the plane.

We've now heard from the Russian Civil Aviation Authority that Prigozhin and Wagner commander Dmitry Utkin were both on the flight.

Seriously... who has the most to gain from this? Ukraine/CIA, not Russia. If Putin wanted to "deal" with him it would have already been done, and in a more quiet manner. This strike was intended to be a highly visible event that dominates the news cycle. Again... who's narrative benefits the most (while still getting revenge)?

Either it was a deliberate act of revenge by Putin or he was never actually on board the plane. This would be a great time to disappear if you knew yourself to be in danger or had a plan that could only be executed if you were thought to be dead.
