So…STARK industries and S.H.I.E,L.D. are at it again testing new gizmo’s for the government Super Soldier Project in the jungles…. while psychologically studying the reaction of its indigenous population.

Makes Sense 🥴

According to the news, these miners are making more than the drug dealers with a 30-40 billion dollar illegal industry:

'In some countries,' according to a 2016 assessment by the international law enforcement body INTERPOL, 'the illicit trade in gold would be more profitable than drug trafficking and seen as low risk by criminals, likely due to the strong law enforcement response to drug trafficking in the region.' As more and more investors have fled national currencies due to market instability or inflationary pressures, the value of gold has continued to entice organized crime into expanding these illegal mining operations. While quantifying the true value of this black- and grey-market gold has been difficult, the nonprofit Artisanal Gold Council (AGC) estimates that these activities make up about one fifth of total gold production worldwide. 'Artisanal gold mining,' as AGC describes it, is somewhere between a $30 billion and $40 billion industry all by itself.

So yeah, I can see an illegal billion dollar industry buying these for scouting for gold as its easier than helicopters and cutting roads through impassible jungle.

I was very skeptical before learning billions are involved.

A slight problem comes to mind……..

Unless these “Flying Prospectors” also fly with tech that exceeds ground penetrating radar and from the air, at that…I don’t see how they would detect gold…..especially under the canopies of forest. Sure…maybe some LiDAR gizmo…but not enough to detect gold which inherently is mostly underground and in cavy deposits. I suppose gold could be found in their riverbed’s…but even that would be hard to detect especially from the air….given the density of water, I’ll assume.

I suspect they just are for security purposes to deter prying eyes of their operations…and scare the natives when required.

Possibly both. I was paraphrasing the article I quoted above:

As Loreto's environmental crime watchdog, Quintanilla told the outlet that he suspects these illegal gold miners may have first used the jetpacks to explore deeper into the dense Peruvian jungle for promising new riverbed gold deposits. 'We have investigated that these gentlemen would be using this suit to reach those places,' he said.

Quintanilla is an idiot. Jet packs have a very short burn time. And why scare a small community when you could talk them into doing the digging for you?

These things are pretty cool. If I could strap one on and go find some gold, I would. An afternoon of hover-boarding and gold-panning is right up my alley.

From Brave AI:

Flyboard Air is a jetpack/hoverboard powered by gas turbines, invented by French water-craft rider Franky Zapata, founder of Zapata racing.1 It can fly up to an altitude of 3,000 meters, has a top speed of 150 km/h, 10 minutes endurance, and a load capacity of 102 kg. The Flyboard Air is said to be the safest, easiest, lightest, and most maneuverable personal aviation system ever created. It achieved a Guinness World Record for the farthest flight by hoverboard in April 2016 of 2,252.4 m. The device is designed to be piloted with little training and has good body balance to help control it. In case of a turbine failure, one can still keep the pilot flying, and if both of them break, the device can achieve a controlled descent while the pilot can access information on altitude, speed, and autonomy levels on his helmet.

Flying 2km in a direction not easily traveled otherwise, could be significant when it comes to gold exploration, was my first thought, but you make good points.

So we could just have the military conducting psychological operations for experimentation, or other reasons.

News to add….

Source NY Post…. Peru prosecutor accuses illegal gold mining gangs of posing as 7-ft ‘aliens’ to terrorize locals

Peru’s National Prosecutor’s Office is accusing gold mining gangs of staging flying “alien” attacks designed to terrorize local residents.

It’s looking like the Aliens are a Bust!

The mining gangs story sounds like a big load of rubbish. Posing as aliens? How does someone get their hands on expensive jet packs, put on some cumbersome outfit to make them look like a 7 foot tall alien, then fly around just to scare some locals who probably don't give a rats ass about miners anyways?

LOL LOL

They don't. The hover-boards aren't available to the public.

So, I guess the next question is, who are they available to?

I do not buy the miner explanation at all. Granted, I do not know much about this technology. It just seems ridiculous to me.
From what I've seen, jetpacks are very loud. These villagers would hear the miners coming from very far away. It would not be very covert.
Perhaps hoverboards were being used by miners? I don't know. But I definitely don't buy the jetpack explanation.
Media seems to have not properly followed up on this story too, which rouses my suspicion somewhat.
Is this just being covered up out of pure stigma? What is going on here?
For now, I'm going to wait until I see evidence of miners using jetpacks/hoverboards.
We shouldn't buy into this story just because it sounds more realistic than aliens.

I think so too.

So far we have photographs of the alleged "aliens". Yet no photographs of alleged "miners on hoverboards".

I will say the faceless man seems more consistant with the piranah explanation than "aliens".

ETA: Come to think of it, what exactly have the alleged "aliens" allegedly done?

The villiagers allege they were attacked.

Who exactly started shooting first?

the jetpacking prospectors story feels fairly off to me, i gotta say.
for one thing, if you've got this incredibly expensive equipment specifically to go find gold, what are you doing harrassing villagers so continously that they're in a constant state of panic?

my two main thoughts on this are
- assuming we have any clear idea of alien's priorities is a foolish endeavor - just because WE think this is an out of the way, strategically insignificant location, does not mean it's the same for aliens. Perhaps there is a particular resource easily obtainable there, perhaps they're stranded, perhaps that's just where their portal opened. We cannot assume what we don't know.

- likewise, we can't assume good faith or good intention on the part of the military industrial complex, and their presence in the area at this time, as well as the lengthy documented history of american military adventurism throughout latin america is absolutely a red flag and highly suspicious.

This will cause a few eye-rolls but hear me out.
If you bother to watch "Parkers Trail" a spinoff History Channel did Parker Schnable went down to Peru & a few other South American Countries looking ostensibly for another gold mining site. The reality of how gold is mined down there along with the measures taken by different groups is no joke. Large company mines are surrounded with mobs who bust in grab what they can at risk of being shot daily for a small handful of ore.

In the mountains deposits are claimed by family groups or villages defended vigorously & lethality. The terrain is beyond difficult basically eating normal mining machinery. Gold is dug by hand on muddy slick ravines with the upper layers of rock routinely crashing down. Deaths were common as well as disabling injuries.

The large Peruvian (maybe chilean?) mine in the Andes had some of the most horrific mining conditions. Women scoured the tailings in high altitude freezing weather for pitifully small findings as it was the only way to feed their families.

None of the mines employed much PPE or followed any kind of safety anything. It is however HUGE revenue & fought over by everyone everywhere. Laugh at History Channel all you want but there was no arguing hired security was necessary, the mining conditions were as bad as portrayed, the underground big business of gold is just as dangerous & lucrative as the article states.

I'll add that, in some cases the land is illegally strip mined using high pressure hoses, that blast away hills and force the dirt over carpets that collect fine gold.

I've seen the gold rich mud put in 55 gallon drums, liquid mercury added to it, and miners jump in and mix it with their feet. I've then watched them collect the gold rich mercury in a pan and burn it with a blowtorch until only the gold was left. And of course, no PPE was used. These people were just exposing their skin and their lungs to the mercury with little to no regard.

As fun as it sounds to strap on a hover board and go gold pan a virgin stream, I don't think that is what is happening.

Billion dollar business globally, not locally.

The water Flyboards are $5,000 to $8,000 each. I can't see the air Flyboards costing more than $20,000 each, and you only need a few of them to terrorize the locals.

*Edit, okay I just read that the Flyboard Air will cost around $250,000, but that's peanuts for government budgets, and as far we know governments are the only entities that can currently purchase them.

They also are able to withstand gunfire and disseappear?

Have you ever tried to hit a moving target, wearing body armor, on a Flyboard? Those things are fast and agile.

I would fly away too, if I were on a hoverboard and being shot at.

Thanks for the added info.
It was covered somewhat in the series but on a smaller scale in a village. Schnable & his team were distressed enough to stop, get into a town, find & weld some metal pieces together so when mercury was burned to get the gold the kids & parents would no longer be exposed to the fumes. Just watching this it was heartbreaking to realize that some of the local families filmed were possibly already deceased from mercury poisoning by the time the show aired.
Sorry I'm blanking on the name of the metal tube device!!
