Nonsense shake-boy. My avatar is very different from a mirage.

A mirage is when the sun reflects off a shallow dip on relatively smooth dry flat ground, such as pavement. The sun has to be quite high in the sky, and you have to be maybe a couple hundred yards back from the shallow dip in the pavement.

Even a mirage is a reflection off of the ground. And it’s a highly distorted reflection.

You’re not going to see a perfect mirror reflection off of thin air, or any reflection for that matter.

If you want to call my position nonsense I think you’re going to have to explain a plausible reason why I can see 2 suns when I point my view at the sun indirectly. Just crying nonsense over and over isn’t going to work for me.

You avatar is a type of atmospheric optical illusion typically known as a "sun dog".

I think you might find the sun is in the sky hence in this instance not anywhere near pavements. LoL

You can't see two suns in the sky unless it's an atmospheric distortion or phenomenon known as "sun dogs" or "parhelion" which can create the appearance of multiple suns in the sky.

My understanding is the phenomenon is typically caused by the refraction or bending, of sunlight passing through ice crystals in our atmosphere.

Nothing to do with the reflection of the sun off fake nonsensical glass firmaments and a lot to do with mere atmospheric condition and illusion.

Hence your position is indeed "nonsense".

Just to add, if there is this glass dome, in the thermosphere, which is apparently so hot, wouldn't it have melted?

Well its glass after all and has a melting temperature in the region of 1700 degrees C.

Given the forces that would be exerted on this alleged ""glass dome"" i would think it would melt and fall to pieces.

Considering the structural loads that would be exerted on thing via gravity and the tidal forces of the Moon alone.

Also, if meteorites are "shot" from under your glass dome, please explain what might have caused the craters on the Moon, which we can see with our naked eyes, let alone with telescopes or binoculars, and which are also evident on other planetary bodies and moons?

Of course; the stock answer to any question that requires a certain level of critical thinking, independent thought and reasoning and attempts to think outside of one's locked in dogmatic viewpoint = God did it.

Makes the other three questions pretty much redundant.
No need to think of how, why or when 'coz 'God did it'.

God may or may not have done a lot of things - I don't know and don't really care, a conversation for another time and place - but I am firmly of the opinion that he did not put a glass ceiling over or around the earth, simply because it doesn't exist.

But one of the reasons I think of why it’s here is to protect its inhabitants on Earth from fatally powerful wind and radiation.

The prevailing explanation doesn’t make sense because the radiation is present and that’s an effective heat transfer. So I see no reason to think an object in the thermosphere wouldn’t absorb the surrounding radiation.
