Titanic: 2 / rich people: 0

I always wonder about people basically cheering people dying. Regardless of the size of thier bank accounts

Not to mention "rich people" is a relative term, Im sure most Somalians probably would look upon most ATSers as evil rich people, hell people in Jackson Mississippi, and other American locales probably would too.

It's called a Joke mate .

Call it whatever you want, mate. It's a free world.

The media is reporting that a fresh debris field has been found on the ocean floor near the Titanic.

Yeah I saw that. Curious to see what they say about it. So you have the OceanGate CEO, a French mariner, a British businessman and explorer, a Pakistani businessman, and his son. All paid $250k for a death trap dive to the bottom of the Atlantic in a machine controlled with an Xbox remote, to take turns looking through a small window at wreckage from the Titanic, the same wreckage you can find hundreds of videos on. How many people even knew about OceanGate before this? And how did the message of a dive reach 3 different people from 3 different parts of the world?

On top of that, how ironic is it that the OceanGate TITAN dove down to see wreckage from the TITANic, only to become part of the wreckage if that is indeed the vessel they found debris from?

Ha, who am I to judge right?

I do recall way back when your sister was desperately sick with COVID. How is she doing?

I don't expect others to be the same way, just the way I was brought up.

Neither am I because those men signed a contract with that company supposedly with three warnings of potential death, so they were forewarned and knew this craft was in of itself a new invention in many ways.

Yes, one that the CEO himself skipped multitudes of testing where all of the scale models came to the same, assumed, fate as the real one.

The three warnings of potential death on the contract should have been the red flag to all of them. But, hey, adventurers gonna adventure.

This is the first time I have heard anyone mention the lack of GPS tracking. It seems bonkers that there is no gps type beacon with its own back up power supply that does not constantly transmit location data.
Jesus I can buy an Apple AirTag for peanuts and track that online from anywhere in the world.
I am absolutely no expert but to me not have any form of tracking whilst on a dive is madness.

Although not confirmed at the time of writing, I suspect all have perished.

Not saying I disagree. And knowing they put that in there tells me the CEO knew this thing would fail and didn't want the suit that would follow. Probably also why he went on this trip as to draw sympathy for all involved, including the company.

You are aware an Apple air tag requires a cell phone tower to be in the vicinity does it not? It's not like we can search in Find their iPhone.

yea, it's Wikipedia but it is correct in this instance, basically trillion dollar navies had extreme issues communicating and locating each other underwater much less a private venture as this was.

Yes I was aware of the limitations of an Airtag. Maybe i should have said a car tracking device but my point is valid. To have no tracking device at all is mad.
Like I said I am no expert but if I was drunk enough to consider going on a dive, not having as way be tracked in the event of a problem would stop me going.
Surely there are ways to track a vessel at depth ?

Yes it's tragic to read about people going missing like this. I wonder if did they possibly fake their deaths and disappear for some reason? Or, is this possibly a distraction from something we're missing all together?

I'm starting to wonder that myself mate .

No beacon ? No GPS of any kind to locate the vessel ? I find that highly highly HIGHLY unusual and suspect and am I understanding correctly here the vessel is remote controlled ? So no pilot is on board ?

How stupid are these people ? Who in there right mind would even get on this Sub ? I guess bored Rich people.

Supposedly there is an adventurer's club and maybe these people are genuinely adventurers.

Well, my granddad would always say, 'until something goes wrong it's not an adventure.'

I wholeheartedly agree. It also shows a high disregard for the sanctity of life that God has given them. A person who values their life would not needlessly put it in harms way like this. It shows a lack of respect for God's gift of life to us.

The titanic wreck has been used before as a rouse for clandestine operations, if I can recall correctly they previously used an exploration of the titanic to look for Cold War nukes. In other words.. I completely agree with you
