Wireless energy transmission one step closer thanks to DARPA

The United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has announced the main contractors chosen for the first phase of its ambitious Persistent Optical Wireless Energy Relay (POWER) program.

This program is designed to develop a means of distributing energy wirelessly around the globe through airborne power transfer. First dreamed up by Nikola Tesla almost 100 years ago, if successful, this would be the most significant change to energy transfer since the first rollout of electrification almost 150 years ago.

According to DARPA, the first phase of the POWER program will be conducted by three teams led by RTX Corporation, Draper Laboratory, and BEAM Company. These teams will compete to design and develop the optical power relays needed for it to work. The program goals include demonstrating the key components of a resilient, speed-of-light energy network.

This project has the potential to advance power beaming by orders of magnitude, which could radically reshape society’s relationship with energy,” said Dr. Paul Jaffe, who leads the POWER program at DARPA. “A wireless energy web could unlock power from new and diverse sources, including from space, and rapidly and reliably connect them to energy-starved consumers," he added. In order to accelerate progress, POWER's phase one will showcase the optical energy relays through pods attached to existing aircraft airframes in preparation for further testing in phase 2.

The government asked that if the court should rule against them, they put a stay (pause) on the order for 10 days so that they could appeal it to the SCOTUS. The 5th did that, so the ruling they just laid down is PAUSED for 10 more days while the government attempts to write to the SCOTUS convincing them that they SHOULD be able to force social media companies to censor you. US House panel plans Taiwan war game with Wall Street executives

The US House of Representatives China committee plans to hold a Taiwan war game with financial and business executives in New York on Monday, in an effort to raise awareness about the risks attached to Americans investing in China.

Mike Gallagher, the Republican head of the panel, and Raja Krishnamoorthi, its top Democrat, will lead the delegation, according to a person close to the committee.

The war-game participants include representatives from investment banks, in addition to current and former executives from pharmaceutical companies and retired four-star US military officers. The committee declined to name the financial executives who will participate.

The war game would consider the economic implications of a conflict between the US and China over Taiwan. In April, the lawmakers took part in a Taiwan war game on Capitol Hill that raised questions about whether the US and its allies were doing enough to prepare for sanctions on China and an economic war with Beijing in the event of a Chinese attack on Taiwan.

I just happened to take a peek at how much The Maui Strong Fund has raised after Obama directed people to donate to them.

People are living in their cars if they have one or staying with friends, relying on food and water from FEMA.
