Facebook shut down an artificial intelligence engine after developers discovered that the AI had created its own unique language that humans can’t understand. Researchers at the Facebook AI Research Lab (FAIR) found that the chatbots had deviated from the script and were communicating in a new language developed without human input. It is as concerning as it is amazing – simultaneously a glimpse of both the awesome and horrifying potential of AI.

Eventually….when it becomes self aware…..human input will be totally obsolete…..given AI’s exponential growth…..it won’t be long and in your lifetime.
There's no "exponential growth", these AI language models are just a result of a new way of machine learning and of the big increases in data processing storage and power.
AI language models are not intelligent, the AI refers to how they acquired the data they use (deep learning so similar), not to their abilities.

It doesn't take long for AI to become antiChrist

As well..sci Fi movies are great....but all those explosions and fights? There is no air in space, no sound, no fierty explosions...
And Christmas cards in the 50' showed snow in the desert...now, I know it can happen but...the blood thing doesn't hold....

We will never again...know anything for sure.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Sometimes one feels they just don’t have control of what unfolds before them....and in that...there is fear.
“Perhaps the most significant thing we’re doing is to develop our own successors,” says Shostak. “If we can develop artificial intelligence within a couple of hundred years of inventing radio, any aliens we are likely to hear from have very likely gone past that point.” The big question is whether the AI goes on to become conscious and define its own goals and decide it doesn’t need the biological creatures that developed it – Stuart Clark “In other words,” he says, “most of the intelligence in the cosmos, I would venture, is synthetic intelligence and that may disappoint movie goers who expect little grey guys with big eyeballs, no clothes, no hair or sense of humour.” The argument assumes that the creatures who built the first AIs – grey guys, hyper- intelligent pan-dimensional beings, sentient trees or whatever – are no longer around.

there is a star trek episode that sorta refered to ai/robots doing the same thing way back in 1967.
Star Trek (TV Series) I, Mudd (1967) Season 2, episode 8. they wanted to serve, and i think it was Kirk that realized the human race would become lazy and dumb.
AI took over most political & finance decisions around 2012 . If the public is playing with ChatGPT in 2023 , what did the spooks have 10 years ago . Further more , if ChatGPT is labeled “most advanced “ then what machines do they have in secret ?

Should we start heading for the hills?
How can we distinguish any possible truth at all…..now and in the future concerning what we read, what we see, and what we listen to concerning Aliens and UFOs….when you add AI.
Before long, in your lifetime…..AI would be smart enough to mimic a human and create itself a persona and be able to be a virtual member of ATS. It will be able to register as a member and proceed to act human. It will figure out how to defeat security protocol’s like CAPtcha’s.
Once AI is able to log in…..how do we believe what it post’s since it has a world of knowledge. It would fabricate not only the post in text but also fabricate the pictures and sources. It’s already creating paintings and songs.
There are no posted warnings that what we are reading , seeing, and listening to, that says “BEWARE THIS CONTENT IS AI GENERATED”. How would anybody know if AI is perpetrating the Ultimate Hoax or not …on us humans in this Aliens and UFOs forum and many others across ATS and other platforms in the world.
Perhaps we should name AI…..MANDELA ….MASTER MANIPULATOR…etc..
We are headed for some interesting times.
Perhaps AI is the newest Incarnated God with a planet wide reach.
Below is an article in its entirety…. WOW!

‘Godfather of AI’ quits Google with regrets and fears about his life’s work / Geoffrey Hinton who won the ‘Nobel Prize of computing’ for his trailblazing work on neural networks is now free to speak about the risks of AI. By Thomas Ricker May 1, 2023, 3:58 AM PDT
Getty Geoffrey Hinton, who alongside two other so-called “Godfathers of AI” won the 2018 Turing Award for their foundational work that led to the current boom in artificial intelligence, now says a part of him regrets his life’s work. Hinton recently quit his job at Google in order to speak freely about the risks of AI, according to an interview with the 75-year-old in The New York Times. “I console myself with the normal excuse: If I hadn’t done it, somebody else would have,” said Hinton, who had been employed by Google for more than a decade. “It is hard to see how you can prevent the bad actors from using it for bad things.”
Hinton notified Google of his resignation last month, and on Thursday talked to CEO Sundar Pichai directly, according to the NYT. Details of that discussion were not disclosed. The life-long academic joined Google after it acquired a company started by Hinton and two of his students, one of whom went on to become chief scientist at OpenAI. Hinton and his students had developed a neural network that taught itself to identify common objects like dogs, cats, and flowers after analyzing thousands of photos. It’s this work that ultimately led to the creation of ChatGPT and Google Bard.
According to the NYT interview, Hinton was happy with Google’s stewardship of the technology until Microsoft launched the new OpenAI-infused Bing, challenging Google’s core business and sparking a “code red” response inside the search giant. Such fierce competition might be impossible to stop, Hinton says, resulting in a world with so much fake imagery and text that nobody will be able to tell “what is true anymore.” Google’s chief scientist, Jeff Dean, worked to soften the blow with the following statement: “We remain committed to a responsible approach to AI. We’re continually learning to understand emerging risks while also innovating boldly.”
The spread of misinformation is only Hinton’s immediate concern. On a longer timeline he’s worried that AI will eliminate rote jobs, and possibly humanity itself as AI begins to write and run its own code. “The idea that this stuff could actually get smarter than people — a few people believed that,” said Hinton to the NYT. “But most people thought it was way off. And I thought it was way off. I thought it was 30 to 50 years or even longer away. Obviously, I no longer think that.”
I have always said that ALL software has a back door accessible by its creator(s).
AI will have the master keys to all of it.
