The Jesus of the Bible was a communist. If you aren't a communist, then you are anti-Christ.

Apocalypse 3:9 "I know thy tribulation and thy poverty, but thou art rich: and thou art blasphemed by them that say they are Jews and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan."

Communists murder Christians and worship the State.
This is why Hitler failed Nostradamus style.

Someone needs a vacation on Disney Saturn.

I think OP has a point, and it's obvious that it doesn't sit well with the materialistic Christians around, I wonder why

Jesus preached that mankind should not be obsessed with material wealth. We should be willing to sacrifice our own success and monetary gains to help others. Jesus warned against people becoming fixated on wealth and status, for there is an afterlife where that does not matter.

Charity and Self Sacrifice are not Communism. Do not distort them.

I'm not a christian.

Wish I'd read that before I made my earlier post. This is trolling of a very sophisticated order. A star for giggles, then.

The best take-away point is that communists may have a flawed outlook on Christianity, not the other way around.

The only point that was made was what the young man, Jesus was speaking to, needed to do.
It is not the same for every person.
If you value your possessions above your relationship with God, then to be perfect, you should sell them.
The same goes for anything that keeps you away from God.
For some it may be drugs, porn, sports or anything else that you value doing more than working on your relationship with God.

Jesus and his followers sold all their private property and distributed the wealth among the community. Then, Matthew 19:21, simply confirms that. That's how Jesus and his followers lived, without private property, were everything was of everyone.

I really think you are looking at all this in a very simplistic way and so not really understanding the full depth of the subject. Jesus said to be "perfect" one should give up their private property. His apostles tried to be "perfect" even though they also failed at it, so no man can be perfect, and that is why Jesus died for our imperfections. In talking about it all we could see that the rich young man put his fortune ahead of God, so that was the one area where just he needed to work on in his drive for perfection when he asked Jesus. I think we can assume everyone is not the same...

The other side of all this is the definition of "private property" that the Romans invented about 100 years before Jesus. In their definition it is absolute, inalienable power of that person over that thing which could be human slaves too. If everyone gave up everything in your view of the passages who would sow the fields, milk the cows, make the cloth, live etc etc... I agree it doesn't make sense in your view, so then it is most likely your view is incorrect.

Today we do not have “absolute property” as the Romans allowed Roman citizens to have, so we really need to look at that area to understand why Jesus was upset with it all.

You also think that transgender bottom surgery is exactly equivalent to circumcision. It is plain you have a personal axe to grind.

Now are you going to address why there are so many examples of prosperous Godly men in the Bible if the only way to be Godly is to also be an ascetic? If not, then you are just arguing at the same level as the OP.

I have zero issues with those who feel called to the ascetic lifestyle. It is a valid spiritual path some feel they must walk to find God, but we all walk our own way too. Just as some must abstain, Rastas believe otherwise.

The OP's point is incorrect. They are conveniently leaving out aspects of the passage to make it fit their narrative of what they think it means.

I guess the Prosperity Gospel megachurches diligently cultivate this interpretation. It's come up at least five times in the thread.

but Jesus didn't work as communists would work, he didn't dedicate his labour to any state which then divided the wealth derived from his labour or resources equally among citizens of the state.

his work was that of preaching the will of god

he didn't give his belongings to a state to manage , he simply gave them up as an example to others that earthly possessions are not required to enter the kingdom of heaven

whats with the desire to attach Jesus to communism ?
what are you trying to achieve ?

worshiping false idols is akin to worshiping Ideologies

The same goes for anything that keeps you away from God.

There is one verse that says that about as plainly as I can imagine it being said: Matthew 5:29-30:

And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

That is from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, where He was talking to everyone. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that... OP will probably start claiming that anyone with a right eye or right hand is a "fake Christian" now.

it's all about greed, me thinks!

it was a clever move by the OP to add communism into the mix, it triggered all the cognitive dissonance, where the sheep came running out of the woods to justify greed...

The descriptions of Acts indicate that Jesus and his "commies" sold ALL the possessions they had. It's clearly written there, why are you denying this?...

You are clearly avoiding what you are conveniently leaving out.

Thank you, Redneck; your answer has helped more than you will ever know.

I'm not seeking 'faith' or a reason to believe, but rather trying to resolve conflicts in my understanding and reasoning.

Much appreciated!

What the OP suggested just didn't make any logical sense, so no real cognitive dissonance in the mix. No one is going REEeee over this as the OP is one person who made up their own view and then said all Christians need to follow my view. It's just a failed attempt to get people into a logic loop.

I wouldn't know.
I don't attend "church". My response comes from years of reading and studying the entire Bible, not just a verse to try and use the Bible as a club.

I'm glad I could help.

I'm not convinced anyone seeks faith at first... faith comes from confidence in that which one believes. I know I didn't seek faith; I sought truth. That's the scientist in me coming out. Faith comes from understanding and continual proof of that which one believes. So don't worry about faith... that will come. Seek truth.

I found truth. Now, many (including the OP) don't believe I found truth... that's OK, some people still believe in Global Warming or Flat Earth Theory, too. Truth is often invisible to those who do not diligently seek it.

If i can help further, I'm a PM away.
