that's why the prophecies of Alois Irlmaier resonate strongly with me no the counter weapons become first strike weapons we've made another war not just possible but inevitable..

We're looking for property in the Blueridge (Ga) area, anywhere between Blueridge and Kennesaw, maybe a little N/S of each. Ideally, 10-20 acres, with water, and I'm even trying to find something with a capped natural gas well on it (unlikely, but who knows, and it would be great)...

I'm not under any delusions that we'd be safe from a full out nuclear war, but I don't thnk that will happen, at worst I think there will be just general breakdown of everything, and the worst we'de be dealing with is roving bands of insane thugs looking to steal whatever they can.

I'll also be looking at how to set up remote controlled sniper (and maybe machine gun) nests - looks like 3D porinting tech for guns has made some real progress...

I'll be right next to you in Costa Rica then, my friend

I have a friend who has been living there 6 months or so out of the year for a decade or more, long enough to gain citizenship. So, it is one option that will always be on the table (subject to all of the reasons why I wouldn't be able to make it there in time of course)...

Folk that have not lived in the woods don’t know what they are getting into.

Even for those that have experience, it can be dicey.

We had a manhunt out here a few weeks ago, because a group of hikers, decided to take on the challenge of the woods and swamplands out here. One got lost and it took a long time to find him. Not the friendliest place to get lost. Mean four legged and two legged critters out here.

Unfamiliar territory is never friendly or easy to traverse. I get lost in my own backyard, and I am very familiar with it. But 100 acres can turn you around without so much as a blink, if you are not paying attention the whole time.

The time to move to any area is long before you have to. The more remote, the sooner you want to get there.

Our Moon will be a hell of a lot easier to colonise than the like of Mars if we are honest, so at least we would stand a chance.

Only 3 days away from Earth or thereabouts using current technology.

All that's required is the money and the will to go really.

Colonising and industrialising low Earth orbit would help immensely with regards to putting permanent bases on our moon.

If the need for Helium-3 ever kicks off and/or materialises there is apparently plenty of the stuff up there to be had.

Same here.... hoping to get a place in North Ga mountains. Maybe Western NC. I find the weather more agreeable in Southeast than up north.

Yeah, fictional stories make it seem easy. Just need a cabin with a fire and a rifle to hunt and we are all good!

and we could play Populace the game for real, from Moon Base Alpha.

Earthrise

"The Moon Treaty specifically stipulates that exploitation of lunar resources is to be governed by an "international regime", but that treaty has only been ratified by a few nations, and primarily those with no independent spaceflight capabilities.

Luxembourg and the US have granted their citizens the right to mine and own space resources, including the resources of the Moon. US President Donald Trump expressly stated that in his Executive Order of 6 April 2020"

I can remember when that came out for the Amiga 500.

Loved that game, and spent days awake at a time playing it.

Yeah, another possibility is my folks place, they built a house (completely custom designed by my Mom, who took drafting a long time ago, and had some experience drawing up building plans) about 20 years ago on the side of a small mountain just outside (west of) Franklin NC... they have a well with excellent water quality, and a very nice water distribution system my Dad designed, complete with a huge underground water storage tank way up the side of the mountain from the house, that provides gravity fed water to the whole house.

Given that any nuclear exchange would be between nations in the Northern Hemisphere, I would suggest somewhere south of the equator. Winds would eventually spread fallout south of the equator but it would be far less than north of.

Anywhere in central or South America.

I seriously think you all aught to watch the 1959 film "On The Beach". Then stop daydreaming about how you think you'll survive because you wont. Instead go out and try to alter the minds of the military nut jobs who think WW3 is a viable scenario for survivability. Then we all might have a chance to live our natural lifespan out.

You mean Palestine ? 😋
Hopefully they get their land back

Scripture says they get booted, and in fact Israel gets back massive amounts of land currently occupied by multiple other countries. It was given to them by God. It will be returned one way or the other, and you will see for yourself.

"My god says this belongs to me"... "errr but my god says this belongs to ME"... "my gods bigger than your god"... "nuh uh it isnt". - Some proto jew and some proto other middle easterner about 4000 years ago.

Their both wrong. its always funny when people seem to completely and utterly forget that 'god' or should I say correctly, the 'god of the Jews' was just one god out of MANY MANY that populated the religions of the region, and is the only one really around still (some others are still around being worshiped) simply because of pure luck and the fact that a very powerful organization and at the time predominant people adopted it as their own god in their collapsing decades... if that had never happened 'god' would be a thing of the distant past, or still just one of many many other gods.

And heres the kicker that makes me laugh... the Jews at that time actually believed in the other gods that competed against their god in foreign lands (each 'land' had their own patron god/s and lesser gods for the most part), ie they weren't looked at as lies or falsehoods but real others that 'god' was in direct conflict with (although not so much conflict more like, in this land, this god rules, while over in this land its ruled by this other god)... so if the jews who have the only god around now days believed in the real existence of the other gods, then we should acknowledge that these other gods we're also real, after all if the jews used to say they were real and their god was also real then either all gods are real, or no gods are. So by Zeus/Jupiter/Olorun/Dagda/Yu Huang/Ra/Quetzalcoatl/etc etc which one is it?

Also...

Im sure if they were still alive today the Neanderthals that lived in the 'Israeli' region would like to have a word with the Israelis about the fact THEIR gods gave them the land before the human Israelis distant ancestors even set foot outside of central Africa. Hell for all we know, the original 'god' as we know it might have been a Neanderthal religious construct we humans adopted from them during social interactions, maybe 'gods' a Neanderthal... he's gonna be pissed when he comes back and finds only us humans.

You can believe in anything you want, but when you start to use that belief to say 'What is yours is actually mine' or 'Im allowed to oppress you, my belief says i can'... then color me super suspect about said 'beliefs' divine origin.

Also, for the OP... **Confidently laughs in NZ**

stay away from the cold Carolann. Go to the warm. Sure you will be vaporized, but it will be in a nice place. I sure don't want to live through Nuclear Armageddon.

and I just can't type that word without referencing this. A morning show I listen to with a gem. RDR is long past, but this lives on.
