It all depends on your personal circumstances. But in all my musings on the subject, I came to the conclusion that if you haven't got a small sailing boat you will be stuffed. You could even do it in a sailing dingy. You won't get out of the traffic jam in a city, but a small boat prepped and ready to go at any time, provided that there is a waterway, can be rowed or, sailed, or motored. The bigger the boat you lose options. The sea and beaches are good food sources, and even seaweed can be cooked up. Even hang gliders have electric motors for take-off these days, so if you lived on a range with steady winds, that is another option. You have to be mobile, but not dependent on modern tech, as fuel will be a problem. You need protection from the elements, the thing with sailing dingy is that they are fast and you can put up a boom tent. If you are older a twenty to twenty-five footer makes sense because you could live board for extended periods.

Good idea if near water, I hadn't thought about the dingy /small boat, it could definitely work for some. We are lucky all our direct neighbors have fur, scales and or wings. Australia is a funny place, one month there is to much water and floods and then the next month we are in drought or burning. The last drought lasted about 6/7 years no water any where, it was bad we saw mother wallabies ditching their young for their own survival and they are very hardy creatures.
For the life of me, I do not know how mum dad and two crutchlings can cut it in a bug out situation. Sometimes we can barley carry enough water to last a day if doing a hard slog in summer, net alone food and extras. If no one is coming to rescue you, you are generally toast. Lets hope all this madness stops before we have to find out how bad it can really get.

For me it's simple...stay put .. I live in Australia .. we are an isolated island with a lot of land ...yes Russia can reach here with weapons ....Australia has got tensions with China for years now.... But I look at Australia as an asset for the global power structure
It's a small population ( easy to control ) lot of land and resources.... Tucked away down the bottom of the world ... Plus my community is here .. say you run off to a foreign land. You are a foreigner and in times of war who will help you ? People become the biggest asset who will stand shoulder to shoulder with you that you can trust ?

Come to Wales. The mental russian guy who said to nuke britain has already said wales/ireland/scotland wont be.... (us celts are cool see!)
If WW3 kicked off i doubt you could get a ferry plus Wales is within walking distance.... even if it would take a few days.
PLUS!!!
Come to Swansea and it already looks like its been nuked so unlikely to be attacked.

If its a really WWIII scenario...I wouldn't even bother. I would rather be wiped out than live in the wasteland which would be leftover. If we ever have another no holds barred world war we will basically be repeating the vedic texts of india...and that didn't really end well back then.
