This is a national problem that is being replicated globally , I care about the national implications relating to the country I live and pay taxes in because it more directly affects me , our health services , housing and schooling are all under pressure because of the numbers of people coming to this country legally and illegally , a million people came here legally last year and nearly 50,000 caught the Dover taxi service to claim their free hotel room and allowance to buy their cigarettes' , booze and food while the working population struggling with the cost of living pay for it , we still have British homeless people sleeping out on the streets while these migrants break into our country and are getting bed and breakfast accommodation in 4 star hotels .... how is that fair ?

People born outside the UK make up an estimated 14.5% of our population now.

If I was fleeing persecution or war I would seek asylum in the first country I arrived in I wouldn't travel through several safe countries to risk my life crossing the channel on a small boat after paying thousands for the crossing , yes our system is appealing because it's broken which is why sending illegal entrants to secure accommodation in another country is the best way to help stop the crossings so saving lives and putting people traffickers out of business , if you come to Britain illegally but end up in Uganda what was the point of paying the money and risking your life ... there isn't one.

New Zealand do it and Demark want to do it , why shouldn't we ?

i'm all for legal and self supporting immigration, those seeking asylum or just want to live here should have to prove they can take care of themselves, or even helping those that can't help themselves like running from a war zone when done with strict controls. but if they can't support themselves, other than running from a war zone which would be understandable, or start showing their ass, protesting, rioting breaking laws it's time for a foot in their a@@, back home or somewhere else.

As for the Irish Protesting?... yeah, they also have a problem with a minority with far-right extremist views. They also would appear to have short memories. We don't have to go that far back to remember the signs put up all over little England: No Blacks-No Dogs-No Irish.

Do you really think that our government wants to do something about this but can’t because of the European court? Why doesn’t this court have any protections for our own homeless?

The government could easily break up the people trafficking gangs if they really wanted to, just like they could have gone after grooming gangs, but instead it was left to the victims to expose that and the few people with any integrity left in the legal system.

This is clearly part of a bigger long term plan, that plan is to bring down the standard of living in the west to that of 3rd world countries. The gated communities, with their private security that are springing up all over the place here, have long been in established in various 3rd world countries.

My God, that poor man. Incredible how people like him can be denied assistance while big gov falls over itself trying to help those crossing your borders illegally. It's much the same in the US; obvious disdain for actual citizens - no funds available to help them. Very sad situation and the topper is that its all intentional. One of them wrote off my car because he wasn't looking where he was going in 2020 , Eastern European chap with a beard.

A couple of eastern Europeans raped a girl in my town a couple of years ago , I'm now paying for their board and lodgings in HMP.

Eastern Europeans are now fighting with Asians over drug territory in my county and stabbings are on the increase.

It's an unsustainable situation.

Here is a thought, stop housing the refugees in hotels and hostels.

And start housing them in our beloved MPs second homes.

Then watch them miraculously find a tenable solution to the boat crossings overnight would be my guess.

End of the day it's not the government or the MPs that are being forced to use the likes of foodbanks to survive, just about everyone else all the same including the working class.

I pay £2000 per month in taxes, never took a penny back from the government and worked everyday since i was 17, while lazy asshats reap the benefits of my labour through government handouts. This policy is just another slap in the face to the hard working UK citizen. The only thing the government have ever offered me free in return is a vaccine i don't want.

34% of our annual budget goes to welfare.
6% is spent on education.

Many healthy people of working age simply abuse the system to fund their lifestyle while making no attempts to contribute. If you're on welfare, are healthy and of working age you should be put to work in order to receive handouts. Clean up the countryside, paint the schools, assist the elderly. I'd imagine suddenly these folk would magically find jobs. The problem is we provide free housing and handouts.

I know a family who have 7 children, neither parent has ever had a job. They now live in a brand new build 6 bedroom home, receive £3000 per month in welfare when you include their rent is paid. Do you think they spend that money on the children or to feed their drug and alcohol habits?

Just think how good our roads would be, how efficient, well trained, staffed and equipped our emergency services, schools and hospitals would be if we didn't spend over a third of our budget on welfare.

I'd rather give that money to the pensioners who earned their retirement. Pensions consider contributions, why doesn't welfare?
