This has to stop. Our children need help. They should be priority number 1.

amp.cnn.com...=From%20%251%24s&aoh=16730521655600&csi=0&referrer=https%3A%2F%2 Fwww.google.com

The police chief said there was an altercation between the teacher and the student, who had the firearm, and that a single round was fired.

Drew, who had earlier said the teacher was in critical condition, said Friday evening her injuries were considered life-threatening but that there was "some improvement in the last update that we got."

The article states that it was not an accidental shooting. But no details right now as to why he shot her. Or better yet, thought it was okay to shoot her.
I've seen far too many stories like this about our youth. These violent crimes keep happening and the kids involved keep getting younger and younger.

And no, I'm not posting this as an anti-gun campaign. I believe in our rights. If we argue over gun laws we will get lost in that and be misdirected from doing something about the mental state of our youth. I encourage you to look into all the teen on teen violent crimes going on everywhere.

We need to do something, anything, about this. And this definitely starts at home.

I agree there is something wrong.

How we have gotten to the point of people solving there problems by killing others, I don't know.

It would be interesting to see the kid's home life.

Fixing the home and fixing mental health would probably fix most of this. Good kids, from good homes, with mental stability (with parents helping them through their issues if any), with a solid support system don’t commit these crimes. It’s almost impossible to fix that now. Nobody EVER wants to talk about those issues. That’s why you have six year olds bringing guns to school. Taking away a normal adults ability to own a weapon will never fix the issue, it starts at home.

I've spent the last 15 minutes trying to post this.

The BIG question is "How the hell did a six year old kid get hold of a gun and then walk into school with it?"

The next question is "How f**king negligent are the kids parents to allow a loaded gun to be within easy reach of a child and not notice he went to school with it?"

Expect all the pro-gun lobby along very soon to say how responsible they are.
Can't wait to see their excuses for this. All the same crap they spout out after any shooting that attracts the general publics attention.

I expect to either get shot down in flames or just get shot by the pro-gun lobby.

Please be respectful with your replies.

Guns.

Guns arent going anywhere. Even if the 2nd was done away with tomorrow.

We stopped education and experience with firearms. Start there IMO.

We all know how this happened.

Thanks to socialism, it is profitable to be a single mother, and black culture plays a big part as well.

Lest we not forget the endless lies and propaganda they are fed their entire lives, from everyone around them.

One sure way to fix this is proper security in schools. Trained security guards with guns and metal detectors at the doors - at least you could stop some of the violence inside the schools.

Cool.

Then lemme be the first to tell you this.

There are over 400 million guns in the US. If they were the problem, there would be no mistaking it.

We dont have a gun problem. We have a culture problem. A culture which does not value life or responsibility.

It's the media, toy factories and Hollywood movies as well as games that do this to our children. Violence is glorified constantly.

But parents are also to be blamed. I grew up in a time where "killer games" were made responsible for the rampages that started in early 2000 in the US and my own country too. I played Counter-Strike (the original one) daily in a clan and I didn't turn out a psychotic killer machine. Also played with and against my uncle and it was always competitiveness, not "killing guys".

But it has to come from somewhere when a 6 year old thinks it's fine to fire a gun at anyone.

I wonder if a background check would have prevented this!

I mean...certainly it would have helped...right?

Tragic...as is all gun violence that makes the news!

I'd like to see parents charge for the crime their kids commit with a firearm they didn't store securely, and their right to ever own another firearm revoked permanently.....and their parental rights if negligence on their part is found.

At six, you don't automatically see violence as an appropriate means to handle situations; that's a behavior this poor kid learned, and it's not hard to reason from where.

There should be mandatory triple penalties for anyone caught with an illegal, stolen or unregistered gun.

The money thrown at getting gun legislation passed might be better spent stopping gang violence.

There's no excuse for any child, let alone a six year old, to have access to a weapon. None.

How many single mothers go out shooting people?
Why are you singling blacks out?
Don't white people shoot others?

Except we have no idea where the gun came from...

"We'll get the investigation done, there's questions we'll want to ask and find out about. I want to know where that firearm came from, what was the situation," Drew added.

Yes. Life is cheap in America.
It is a problem of your own making.
When the founding fathers wrote the constitution they could never have foreseen what a beast they were unleashing on the country.

Disagree. They knew and made sure the people had the tools needed to supress and root out the problems.

Problem is, freedom isnt free.

Well if you aren't part of the solution, then you are part of the problem. That's what it is.
