Looks like Ukraine did shoot down the plane supposedly carrying Ukraine POW's.
If that can be corroborated and let's face it, it would have been with a missile supplied by the West, this gives more reason for some parties to continue to push for funding to be withheld from Ukraine given how reckless they are becoming.
A Russian Il-76 military transport aircraft crashed in Belgorod Oblast on January 24. Geolocated footage posted by various Russian sources shows the Il-76 crashing in Yablonovo, Belgorod Oblast (about 50km northeast of Belgorod City). . . . Senior Russian propagandist and Editor-in-Chief of state-controlled outlet RT Margarita Simonyan published a list of the names of the Ukrainian POWs supposedly on the flight, but several Russian and Ukrainian sources noted that at least one of the alleged POWs had already been exchanged in a previous POW swap on January 3. (Me: )
NATO announced on January 24 that the Steadfast Defender 2024 exercises have started and will run until May 31, 2024. NATO reported that the exercises will occur in the High North, Central Europe, and Eastern Europe.
Positional engagements continued throughout the theater.
ok after what i have seen in the last few days i agree with @JeffFisch .
the UKRAF looks like it is sneaking german style patriot launchers to the front line and doing raids with them.
sneak in, quick shoot, haul ass out of the area. this is the most audacious use of a high alt long range system i have ever seen....
what they have done is take a strategic air defense system you normally need about 2-3sq KM to set up and run... and turned it into a long range stinger system. amazing. this goes against every book ever written about ADA employment... and its working. you can not do this with the american type system as easily. doing so now pushes the front line back for russia 130 to 160 KM...
as a former ADA guy the idea of a patriot system close to the front lines like that was nearly unthinkable... but with the german type system its doable.

I read an article talking about the damage those north Korean rounds are doing to the artillery peace between misfires and even reported blowing up in the barrel. You have to figure north Korea has little to no quality control.
As for support of Ukraine I figure if Trump gets in office he will see it as a waste of money. The US gets nothing out the deal other than weakening a possible threat. But at this point Russia has proved they are very little threat to the west. There arms industry has collapsed. They no longer have any real products to export. The economy is in deep trouble as they even raided pension funds and soon will be unable to pay grandma her retirement money. To make matters worse women are wanting their guys to return home. Protests against the war are starting and I don't think Putin can maintain the status quo ao something big is going to happen.

"Putin’s popularity is high, and is most likely getting reelected."
Probably because any political rivals/critics tend to get murdered or imprisoned.

Putin threatens to reclaim Alaska
Vladamir Putin, the increasing delusional dictator of Russia, has signed a decree nullifying the 1867 sale of Alaska to the United States
www.msn.com...
Unfortunately such bluster has often preceded Russia seizing the aforementioned such as Crimea in 2014
While it is doubtful Putin and his cronies are dumb enough to try and retake Alaska Who can say ...........
Kind of makes you wonder what Trumps opinion on this is, or how he’d react if this happened while he was president… I mean, dudes got an opinion on everything and ain’t shy about calling out stupidity.
But when it comes to Russia, total silence. Kind of sad actually, for Ukraine especially… when you put the dots together and realize that the next POTUS is going to be nothing more than a Russian asset.
I honestly believe if Trump was president the war in Ukraine would be over. Not because he is a great diplomat, but because he wouldn't have funded the proxy war so Ukraine would have no choice but to cede land to Russia as they are incapable of defending themselves without the west supplying them with money and arms.
There's every chance that Zelensky will have to do this within Bidens term as president as the funding is stopping and US intelligence has previously stated that Russia have the upper hand.
Negotiations will see Russia keep what they have taken and then some - a redrawing of borders - and then it will end for the time being. Russians and Ukrainians are both growing tired of the war, neither side has the appetite for it beyond Putin.
If Trump gets back in he will repair relations with Russia and trade will return to normal.

I understand your healthy cynicism but I'm not seeing anything of the sort here.
So basically the nation are so stupid that they vote people like Boris Johnson in willingly.
Russia has to have strong permanent leadership because the West is forever doing what the West does and wants to divide Russia up into easily digestible parcels
Russian forces conducted a series of missile and drone strikes against Ukraine on the night of January 24 to 25. Ukrainian military officials reported on January 25 that Russian forces launched 14 Shahed-136/131 drones from Krasnodar Krai and occupied Crimea, four S-300 missiles from Belgorod Oblast, and another S-300 missile from occupied Donetsk Oblast. Ukrainian air defenses destroyed 11 Shaheds. Ukrainian Southern Operational Command reported that Ukrainian air defenses also intercepted a Kh-59 missile over Mykolaiv Oblast.
The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) reportedly conducted a successful drone strike on a Rosneft oil refinery in Tuapse, Krasnodar Krai on the night of January 24 to 25. Ukrainian outlet Suspilne reported on January 25, citing an unspecified source, that the SBU conducted a drone strike on the refinery and that Ukraine will continue to target economically and militarily important objects in Russia.
Russian forces recently made confirmed advances near Avdiivka amid continued positional engagements along the entire line of contact on January 25.
