"I'd bet anything on it."

Apparently not!

We all knew the British were involved on the ground. Heck we've been training the Ukraine military up with Ben Wallace 'visiting' Ukraine every year since 2014. The Ukrainian military is being modeled on ours. This whole fiasco in eastern Europe has been directed by western agencies in yet another Coloured Revolution. We also have been so 'surprised' at how well the Ukrainian military is doing, while no doubt the success is being carried out by western forces inserted into the Ukraine by our governments. I've talked to plenty of people in the past from our military be it Rhodesia, Iraq. Fine example Syria 1967................ Supposed Israeli miracle in taking the Golan from Syria in Six Day War. Actually British special forces were on the ground and did most of the fighting against this Russian proxy.

Wouldn't surprise one bit if ours, plus the French and Yankee special forces were taking on the Russian's. I'd bet anything on it.

There was ambush footage posted months ago with a group of ukraine soldiers being rushed through the woods by an english speaker to the point he was pushing them and yelling at them in english to hurry and hit a russian armored vehicle in a field on their wood line.
People pointed that out and others started wondering if they were advising during combat.

Would love to get into it yet don't understand it the odds and everything maybe all the understanding the hosses and the ground etc well beyond me, though everything we do in life is a gamble one way or another.

Pretty interesting info though from the leaks and something we kind of expected. If there is kak going on anywhere on this planet at any time then there will be Yanks, Brits, Russians, French somewhere involved behind the scenes while Costa Ricans and Congolese probably won't be there

Yes EmeraldCoastFreedm do remeber that footage
and it goes to explain the 'remarkable' performance of the (supposed) Ukrainian military

Don't forget the Chinese!

Probably because they're too busy killing each other in their own respective countries.

Don't want to derail this thread, but by the time I was 21 I was running 2 betting shops.
Got out of the game pretty young but still enjoy a flutter....and the nags are a passion.

Oh yeah good one FB the Chinese too. Just left them out as they don't generally work outside their own region yet that has changed recently and yes they are involved in Ukraine.

Must admit gambling is a buzz. Mate in the 80's knew a bookie, Freddie Jenkinson from memory and gave us tips during a weeks camping trip to Borth, West Wales. Spent the week every day indeed at a bookies in Aber with 24 pack of beers and the wins just kep coming over and over again. What an amazing buss so totally get it. Thig was when we had a gamble without Freddie's recommendations it was total nonsense. Amazing the knowledge of that bookie and the advice he gave, a real skill to study the form or whatever and win

ETA: I don't agree with Nielsens claim that Russia is running out of manpower but I do agree with they have a manpower problem. Same as when you hear people saying Russia is running out of X, whatever that is. It's BS but there is truth in it insomuch as they are having problems replacing losses of equipment. There was the story about the Russian's are going to produce 1500 T-90's this year. Again, all I can do is lol at that.
The analyst did make some interesting arguments and when you see how all the front lines are more or less stalled except where Wagner private military is fighting, then it appears there's not a lot of strength in the Russian regular military.

The situation with Wagner seems more dire. They had a large influx of prisoner soldiers a little over 6 months ago, who were given I think 6 months to fight to earn their freedom. They had huge losses so a lot of those prisoner soldiers died, and then the 6 months was up so they lost a lot of the rest of the prisoners who managed to stay alive for 6 months and were granted their freedom from fighting and from prison. Wagner is not recruiting from prisons anymore, so I think the Wagner bubble has largely burst, though they still have a core of experienced fighters who went in after the prisoners were killed in attacks revealing the Ukrainian positions. But Wagner apparently no longer has the excess supply of cannon fodder from prison that they previously enjoyed, which I'm surprised the analyst didn't mention in his analysis.

This video talks about the decline of the Wagner forces I mentioned, though I think it's hyperbole to say their "EXISTENCE IS COMING TO AN END". However they have seen a very significant decline.

11 Apr: HUNT IS OVER. Wagner Forces' EXISTENCE IS COMING TO AN END | War in Ukraine Explained

One tactic Ukrainians used in Bakhmut was to abandon their position in a building in downtown Bakhmut after it was damaged in a Russian attack, allowing Russians to move in and occupy what was left of the building. Then the Ukrainians would remotely detonate explosives in the building, to destroy it and kill the occupying Russian or Wagner forces. So Wagner made some progress advancing in Bakhmut, but at high cost.

NKVD pulled off the same thing in, I think, Kharkiv, in 1941 when the Germans occupied the city. Back then, it was time bombs.

My guess is that Wagner will continue to exist, but they'll return to their "when Russians play the role of the white mercenary in Africa" missions.

11 April Update

🟇 Russian forces appear to hold positions northeast of Kupyansk and have made gains in the forest area south of Kreminna.

🟇 Russian forces conducted ground attacks in and around Bakhmut and along the Avdiivka-Donetsk City line.

🟇 Russian forces conducted defensive operations in southern Ukraine.

More at URL above.

Also in the news-- Ukrainian spring offensive plans are being reworked in the wake of leaks from the Pentagon. Although sloppy security on the part of the Americans, it is best for the Ukrainians that the leaks became known, thus allowing them to have some element of surprise when they initiate their operations.

Cheers

All we know is that a handful of special forces from the UK and a few other nations are in Ukraine. Too few to be significant beyond training and intelligence operations. Very doubtful they are in combat-facing operations.

Almost certainly others are there too - military intelligence, CIA and all that. Helping to interpret all the intel that is being passed on, for a start.

If it helps Ukraine against the Russian invader, that's good enough.

Ukraine is still seeking Hawkei vehicles from Australia. Also, the Ukrainians are continuing their highly effective messaging campaign concerning Bushmasters and now Hawkeis. But the practical issue with Australia supplying Hawkeis to Ukraine is the absence of surplus vehicles. In contrast, the Australian Army enjoys a reserve supply of Bushmasters.

Oddly, Ukraine isn't bothered by the Hawkei's Brake problems.

Very doubtful? Look the Ukranian military is British trained in our island also in Poland. They are supplied with British weaponry. No doubt satellite information is passed on too. Increasingly this whole inter Slav mafia war is looking more like a British and allied proxy war to further take away Russia's near abroad and edge closer to the final aim of toppling the regime in Moscow.

I am proud that the UK is, and has been since 2015, leading the way in helping Ukraine against a vile foe. But, it's not all UK, because in the UK there are other nations supporting the training effort - such as New Zealanders, Canadians and Australians, to name but three.

The training of Ukrainians in modern warfare has - I am told - enabled them to out-think, outplay and outdo Russian forces, whose doctrine is stuck in the past.

Fair enough Paraphi, I just believe we should be keeping out of involving ourselves, our military and our extremely stretched finances in helping to ignite and perpetuate conflict in areas that our historically absolutely non of our business whatsoever. The Slavic lands like the lands of the Arabs and Afghans are non of our business, we are no longer a colonial nation and we should keep out of them and let the natives sort their own mess out while at the same time using the billions of pounds directed at funding these proxy wars to address urgent domestic issues like the domestic homeless and standard of living crises, more funding for the NHS and Police forces to make our lives better.

Russians booby-trapped the buildings in Kherson before they withdrew, but Ukraine had booby-trap experts locate and disarm the booby traps so hopefully most were unsuccessful.

Time bombs offer less opportunity for disarming, but I think it takes some luck to get the timer set right. If the time is too short it goes off before the building is occupied again, and if the timer is too long, then there would be enough time to defuse it. In the video I posted there's one clip where the Ukrainians were right across the street from the building they mined. They watched the enemy soldiers enter the building then pulled a string that went across the street to detonate the explosives, giving them no time to find or disarm the bombs.

Are you suggesting that the UK should not honor the promises it agreed to in the Budapest memorandum? Russia has been criticized for not adhering to the agreement and if the UK also violated the agreement then all the ire directed at Russia for its violation could also be directed at the UK for not honoring the agreement it signed.

Moreover, while the UK is no longer colonial, and I didn't think Russia was from the 1990's to 2013, it now appears that they have colonial interests, not only from their attack of Ukraine, but also from Putin comparing himself to the conqueror Peter the Great, and the decisions by Sweden and Finland to join NATO, suggesting they had concerns about Russia's potential expansionist ambitions.

So when does it become the UK's business when Russia starts invading and conquering countries to their west, after they have taken Germany and France and are getting too close to the UK? By then you might not be able to stop them if they had all those resources behind their empire.
