And Putin is estimated to have acquired a personal fortune of between 400 and 600 Billion Dollars....all on a presidents salary.

WION out of India does a pretty good job. YouTube has sanctioned them a few times for telling too much of the truth!
They had a live reporter on the ground for a while but haven't seen him lately, nor have they published many reports on the war recently.

Seems like something else is going on behind the scenes. What do we really know? It looks like not much.

I've never been 'involved' in a major military action by anyone where getting independent information was so difficult, and that's the exact opposite of what I had expected.

It is possible if determined enough, but extremely challenging.

Why is Ukraine so special

The short answer is geography and stopping Russia from taking part of Europe.

the same didn't happen when other countries have been invaded , particularly in the middle east .

I did not agree with the Gulf wars nether nor the flawed reasoning and lies of WMD behind such.

Don't forget NATO is trying move/spread into Russia from Ukraine.

Nations should be free to join whichever defensive organisation they please without fear of invasion.

The entire reason for the existence of NATO was to counter USSR at the time and now Russian expansion.

End of the day Russia told porkies, and invaded Ukraine whilst Putin claimed they were merely performing military exercises.

It's not really hard to pick a side by my estimation.

Assuming Putin's goal was to increase the power of NATO, drive other nearby nations into joining NATO, ridicule and cause long term financial damage to the Russian people, make Russia as globally important as North Korea, and show the world how rather inept and very unscary the Russian army actually is when it comes to fighting trained soldiers (yes, they are very good at murdering civilians, but that's about it) then Putin is indeed heading for a very convincing victory
