Just seen this headline

Russia withdrawing troops after 'heavy losses', proving 'inability to capture key Ukrainian cities,

Does anyone think Putin is leaving without capturing any new territory ? This has me worried if indeed he's withdrawing how's it going to go down Is he going to act like it never happened nothing to see here ?

Perhaps everyone has a price?

If you read the Panama papers, Putin has more money than anyone tucked away. I don't think he would be too excited over "twitter money".

If they are citing the Ukrainian ministry of defense than the source is questionable and they arent withdrawing. They are likely withdrawing some smaller unimportant areas.

The headline is misleading than again this is the same FOX news that thought the snake island soldiers were dead.

Would FOX news or other MSM now share the heavy losses for the Ukrainian side? i doubt that they would do report on them.

Putin isn't withdrawing, HE'S LOSING, and badly.

He's exposed how weak Russia really is, and is now threating Finland if they join NATO.

Putin has done more to strengthen NATO than even America thought could have been possible.

Putin will go down in History as a man who started out great with his election as President, and turn himself into nothing but a man who has murdered tens of thousands (at least) of innocent people and the man who made Russian Not Great Again.

My guess is the rumors that he's sick might be correct. We shall see.

My hope is the murderous bastard dictator dies in a bomb blast.

Russia IN NOT OUR FRIEND.

He's definitely not withdrawing all of his forces from the country. But Ukrainian forces have pushed the Russian forces back to the Russian border up in Kharkiv. The Russian troops were also blowing bridges as they fell back. So that seems like a pretty strong indicator that they are abandoning the Oblast. At least for the time being.

Finland is de facto NATO country armed with NATO military hardware anyway. Whether Finland joins NATO officially is irrelevant for Russia.

Or perhaps he does not want his troop to get caught in the atomic blasts

Some big Kharkiv cities like Kupiansk and Izyum are still held by Russia. These are raion administrative centers. Also holds some of the border towns which are heavily defended. They did withdraw from some small abandoned villages.

The headline and article looks to be using loaded language for dramatic effect.

It doesn't really specify if it's an all out withdrawal, or just regionally, ie. Kharkiv.

But, we shall see. I'm sure the global markets would love to hear of an offramp in this pointless war.

You would also pull back your troops if you were planning to nuke, just saying.

Some people aren't motivated by money. Power is the greatest addiction.

And when $$ don't matter...Genocide don't matter....destruction of your own and others don't matter....so...POOF!

Goes out w a statement. A very loud one. He has zero to lose when nothing matters.

I believe he'll make that statement going out.

Let's be fair, his Presidency was ushered in by the Russian apartment bombing false flags he set up. Which in turn led to the Second Chechen War which has an estimated civilian death toll of around 60,000.

The west has left little if no offramp. Not the putin deserves it but the implications could be cataclysmic to say the least.

Here I agree. There is no off ramp. The west imposed the most harmful sanctions and provides most of the firepower (at least in terms of equipment). The west doesn't go to the table, Ukraine or Zelensky does. He doesn't have the ability to wager sanctions or foreign lethal aid. He's bootstrapped, and I imagine that's by design. It's a perfect proxy.

But, as you said, Putin doesn't really deserve any wins after the destruction caused. It's not like he should really get anything for ending it.

Kharkiv is really close to Russian border. Only 20 km. It's only 71 km from Belgorod to Kharkiv. From Belgorod they can use Smerch and Iskander to shell Kharkiv without ever crossing the border.

For a more exaggerates conspiracy twist, the question of the apathy the EU has shown is remarkable.

Usually the apathy by proximity rationale applies. However in this case, the current US admin is the loudest voice and the widest wallet.
