During the rising unrest in Ukraine in the aftermath of the 2014 Ukrainian revolution, the city of Mariupol, in Donetsk Oblast, saw skirmishes break out between Ukrainian government forces, local police, and separatist militants affiliated with the Donetsk People's Republic. Government forces withdrew from Mariupol on 9 May 2014 after heavy fighting left the city's police headquarters gutted by fire. These forces maintained checkpoints outside the city. Intervention by Metinvest steelworkers on 15 May 2014 led to the removal of barricades from the city centre, and the resumption of patrols by local police. Separatists continued to operate a headquarters in another part of the city until their positions were overrun in a government offensive on 13 June 2014.
You can think what you want.
The Ukrainian government , along with a long list of their brand new anti Russian language and anti Russian culture laws, the overthrowing of the government that all these people in the east voted for and the aggression and murder of Eastern Ukrainian civilians is why this part of the country decided to separate.
The Eastern Ukrainians were no longer gonna live in a country where their votes didnt matter, where their language and culture was being taken away from them, where it was now against the law to teach their children in school with the language they had been using on that land for generations, where they were being treated as 2nd class citizens on the land that their ancestors died to protect and in a country that was using force against their own people. This is why millions of Eastern Ukrainians were separating.
You think Ukraine banned the russian language?
Hilarious!
That was yet another long debunked russian lie.
Ukraine did no such thing.

Wrong.
I rebut absurd russian propaganda posted on ATS so the russian propagandists don't have the same success using ATS to distribute their lies as they have on most other platforms.
Pay attention better.

Stop lying, you know perfectly well that the law did NOT 'ban the russian language', it only made Ukrainian their official language, something MANY countries do for their most commonly spoken language.
It was 5 years AFTER russia invaded Ukraine to steal land and resources, while russia continued to occupy large parts of Ukraine.
Do you really think anyone here is unfamiliar with the dishonest russian propaganda you just tried to spread here?
You aren't the first to try, or even the hundredth, and it's still the same fake russian propaganda it always was.

Do you not know what these words mean?
Of course you do, which is why you used them in an effort to convince folks that Ukraine did something improper, while trying to carefully avoid a long russian false accusation, often repeated by their propagandists, that Ukraine banned any language.
You aren't the first to try, or the first to fail.
Probably won't be the last attempt we see here on that false claim either.
Ukraine can choose whatever official language it wants, just like any other country, and it's none of russia's business.
Ukraine could decide to make French their official language tomorrow and it's STILL none of russia's business, and certainly not any justification for invading Ukraine.

and your ignoring the other info provided that is fact but does not support the OP claims.
Mariupol is the second-largest city in the Donetsk Oblast, and has experienced sporadic unrest since March 2014. Pro-Russian and anti-government groups first occupied the city council building on 18 March 2014.[18] The first violent incident had occurred during the night on 16 April 2014, when about 300 pro-Russian and anti-government protesters attacked a Ukrainian military unit in Mariupol, throwing petrol bombs.

Im not ignoring how Brutal and exreme the Ukrainian government is to their own people. Did you watch the 2014 news report from British MSM in the original post? The British press showed how Brutal the Ukrainian government is, attacking and killing their own un armed civilians in the streets and burning down buildings in the city.
It's why the people in Mariupol were celebrating when the Russian army arrived. Many senior citizens had tears in their eyes they were so happy that the liberating forces had arrived. Azov had over run the city and were just being as brutal as the Ukrainian government.
