Well yes, they started and invaded country's in the wars in the Middle East and still are occupying a few. Causing millions? of deaths as a side products and even more refugees (luckily for the US since they are always far away they don't get much refugees from there. And the US is never under danger of being attacked (except by a few terrorists). After 9-11 the US had the world on their side but they abused this as an excuse for causing great suffering far away and still people suffer today.

The U.S. took no territory from iraq or afghanistan, and never had any intention of doing so, we did however kill a whole lot of wannabe terrorists hell bent on more large scale attacks on U.S. civilians.
Flying planes into buildings, or hiding those that did, has consequences, sometimes they include country invading consequences.
