Everything gardening related, seeds, TOOLS - I can’t stress this enough. I think if things get bad these things will be harder and more expensive to get.

PEST control.

Durable clothing. Order those jeans now, and good shoes, and outerwear.

I’m not against prepping specifically, but what happens when you run out of supplies?
It might be good for temporary events that cause shortages but long term you need to be able to survive outside the system.

Spices!!! This was one item that was actually limited when covid happened here.
Detergent has already skyrocketed in price.

Tea - The right tea can last years, if not decades if stored correctly.

Some of these supplies are to live outside the system, ie seeds/tools.

Some are to tie you over until things normalize. If things don’t normalize you will at least have a head start.

Healthy oils (olive, avocado) & good fats (coconut fat, lard) as energy food.
Smaller amounts of linseed oil for essential fatty acids.

Forget about rice and beans. They are all carbs and not good for the health, plus they require heat to prepare (extra costs & trouble), and you need a lot more of those.

Fat has 9 kcal per gram. Carbs have only 4 kcal per gram

Rice and beans have been a staple food for a long time. You and I are both probably alive due to someone eating rice and or/beans!

I made that list in the order of the black market prices at the time, from most demanded and highest priced commodities to lowest. Things got worse after that of course, and I haven't kept up on current conditions.

Good list ... esp the mayonnaise ... might add honey to it too. Substitute in three washcloths for the toilette paper.

I tend to gravitate away from items that can't be readily replenished.

gasoline and propane and generators that can run of natural gas or propane and maybe 2 weeks of MRE's and 2 weeks of water.

i did that at the start of the year and also have been buying small arms ammo and 5.56 band 7.62 rounds for my rifles

On a serious note, from my studies of economies that have crashed, time and time again history tells us that alcohol is more valuable than gold sometimes!

As are other vice products (cigarettes, and other things)
