Frankly it’s incomparable to what Russia is doing in Ukraine - more in line with the idiotic adventures in to Iraq if anything. However, as Kosovo is European it serves as somewhere with more geographical significance to the events unfolding.

This is an absolutely ridiculous move by Putin, making NO logical sense in any way. NATO has not and would never have attacked Russia. Other countries bordering Russia are already in NATO. Economic sanctions in Russia will be massive and vastly damaging. There is no guarantee Putin wins. NONE of it makes any sense militarily, politically or economically. Perhaps, then, Putin has indeed lost his mind.

Its indeed an hard act to follow what putin is doing. But as I wrote in a previous thread...maybe we are not informed about the entire story. Remember the cuba crissis... the russians were painted an agressor while the USA was before that incident busy installing simular rockets at the russian border in turkey.

Of course its a serious act of war which is making all europeans nervous and will take many lives. If I were Ukraine I would allow the russian to take ukraine and safe many of its sons, fathers, uncles, brothers and sisters. There is no way ukraine will win this war. Going in hot with russia will cause many deaths and the distruction of their cities...so what is wisdom?

But then again...some govrnment are a collection of idiots. The president of ukraine is asking his fellow citizens to take up their arms and fight. What an idiot..Its such men that will be the first to flee to a safe country and hide like a cockroach if you ask me. Did you guys know that he closed three tv stations because they critisized his leadership and arrested some of the political opposition? I got that information from Tulsi Gabbard..a well respected and honest US government insider and officer in the US army.

If the people there decide to put up a fight the streets are going to be knee deep in blood both Russian and Ukrainian.

There tanks, APC, and air cover will be next to useless in an urban theatre of war.

Now would be a fantastic time to declare independence for Cuba. If Putin can do it?

Do you mind if we ask where you saw or heard this? All I'm seeing are reports from him stating that while they've activated "defense plans" for now, that there will be a "virtual summit" of 30 members taking place Friday to discuss what they will do moving forward.

I direct you towards Vietnam or Afghanistan to see how that one works out in the end.

What's inevitable are a load of dead people on both sides should Putin decide to pursue his current way of thinking.

They are pushing Ukrainian forces out of the lugansk and Donetsk independent states. Military infrastructure has been annihilated, the Russians control the skies for the most part but have lost already some helicopters and tanks. They are not exactly bombing everything above sea level the way Saudi Arabia and some nato states like to do. They seem to o be exclusively focused on ports, air bases, defensive lines and the ammo dumps. At least from the footage I have watched in the last two hours.

It's been an overwhelming one sided assualt, but the Ukrainians are getting in their licks too, as I have posted on page one. Not sure if occupying cities outside of the independent republics is in the cards, but we will see soon enough.

Great narrative update, WSC!!

I would expect Putin's military to conduct a systematic dismantling of any strategic means of resistance.

If it gets ugly (the dirty kind of fighting) ... I expect there will be a tremendous loss of Ukrainian lives.

There are always 3 sides to any matter, one side, the other side and the truth:

Please take the time to listen to her all the way through. We seem to be forgetting that Ukraine does not belong to neither Russia or the US or Nato.

We also seem to be forgetting that the west in 2014 helped Ukraine spark their own national socialist party.
And we don't seem to be very good at keeping a woke eye to what those forces have been doing and commiting in Ukraine since then.

A few highlights from this former Ukrainian presidential candidate:

- Ukraine consist of people who speak ukrainian and people who speak Russian. (just like Canada with English and French)
- Ukraine has since 2014, been censoring the local broadcast of local Russian speaking tv.
- Since 2014, Ukrainian national socialists /nazis, have been on the rise, without governmental put down and with no comments from the west.
- Her party wants Ukrainian sovreignty to be respected, the nazis stopped and Ukraine helped to be a unified Ukraine with respect to all, regardless of language, sex, any criteria, and to respect that some parts have relations to Russia.
- She wishes for Russia, China, US and Germany to meet at the table and reach a settlement.



We also seem to forget that Russia and the US share a border north of the Pacific.

Im no Putin fan, but if you placed yourself in space and looked at the Earth objectively as the GLOBE it is.
It's the US and Nato that has bases around Russia, not Russia that has bases around the US.

Then ask yourself once again; what would I do if I was president of a country in Russias position?

It wont come to that because there are no spoils of war to be had from a large scale nuclear exchange.

Only way that will happen is if one side begins to lose all there pieces on the chessboard faster than the other.

Now I'm hearing that while NATO may not be organizing something together, individual members of NATO will be assisting Ukraine on their own, but I don't know who all that includes.

Taiwan is the next to go if that happens. It would be the Chinese helping the Cuban gov as much as the Soviets. The Putin era Russians still want their friends in Cuba too.
