Yes. The breakaway provinces will now start "cleansing" their territory of anyone sympathetic to the West. By "cleansing", of course I mean killing. Russian troops will be invited in by the now independent republics. If Ukraine tries to intervene militarily to stop the slaughter, they will be defeated by the superior Russian forces. If they don't, Russian occupation of the republics will be a fait accompli.

big country must protect ethnic enclaves in smaller country.
I read this and all I can think of is 'Sudentland' and 'Czechoslovakia'
talk about history repeating itself.
I don't care if Putin does go in and take all of the Ukraine. not worth a war.
so maybe I'm an appeaser.

The echoes from '38/'39 are quite chilling.
Hitler had to be opposed....he posed a threat to the whole of Europe and even the world.
Putin doesn't.
That may be little consolation to the Ukrainians.
I've seen too many British soldiers die in pointless wars that have achieved nothing.
I don't want to see any more.
Egotistical politicians on all sides play their games of power whilst money men and arms dealers pull themselves stupid over the prospect of making obscene amounts of money.....and as usual its the ordinary people in the street who just want to get on with making the best of their lives any way they can who suffer.
Its truly appalling that we are no further forward than we were 80-90 years ago.
Hopefully it's something along the lines of not our monkey not our circus.

Chamberlain's stance was EXTREMELY popular, until it was too late.
For the same reasons as today.
I actually agree with Chamberlain's goals and strategy, both then and now, but I'm not at all convinced that it won't have the same disastrous results now as it did then.
THAT is the only difference between our stance on this issue.
Well that, and joe.
We don't have the ability to quickly replace him with a Winston.
And going to war with joe & current democrats is damn near suicidal.
For the entire planet.
Unfortunately, democrats have already put us in this position, and there isn't an easy way out of it right now.
