The weird part that I have no clue as to if it is legal or not is if you go from FL with a woman who is 17 and have sex with her in any of the other 40 states that say it is legal, would it still be breaking the law in FL if the act was in another state or a country were it is legal?

Child Sex Trafficking is prohibited by 18 U.S.C. § 1591. It doesn't matter where in the US Gaetz was. As soon as he paid a minor for sex he was breaking Child Sex Trafficking laws. The act of just paying her for sex comes with a sentence of 10 years to life. If he took her across state lines, that's another 10 years to life. If Greenberg's claims are true, Gaetz was using his phone to interact with this girl and pay her. That's another 10 years to life.

So unless Gaetz has someone bigger he can flip on, he's looking at a lot of jail time.

It is illegal to basically pay for sex period except in a few cases. This whole transport a minor over state lines is once again confusing in if he dated this girl and she traveled with him around the world and yes they had sex X times I'm not sure where the legal/illegal line is.

So what you are saying is if she drives with him to GA and has sex then it is illegal, but if he waits for her in GA to come see him and then they have sex it is then it is OK.

The sheer act of offering a minor any kind of compensation for sex, regardless if the sex happened or not, comes with a 10 year minimum sentence.

If Gaetz is guilty of what he is alleged to have done then he violated a number of other federal statutes pertaining to Child Sex Trafficking. All of which come with a 10 year minimum sentence.

Yeah. An EX girlfriend is giving testimony. This makes him guilty? Remove him from his appointments? Why is it always guilt before trial with so many of you. I hope you never get busted doing anything.

Also, if he paid for travel and was not told she was 17 he is not 'paying' her and he was lied to. Would not be the first time. I think the investigation should really be into who provided the girl if that happened.

I mean, in the Maxwell trial that is what it was about not those who took the underage girls. Right?


PS - If he was banging young girls put his ass away. No questions. This should not be a partisan decision but a moral one.

She has the texts and calls. If there wasn't anything to her testimony why did she fight so hard to make sure she couldn't be prosecuted for witness intimidation?

Also, the ex-girlfriend isn't the only witness. There's also the alleged victim and Gaetz' wingman Greenberg.

They're all telling the same tale.
