Here in the suburbs of Chicago I check a regional chain- full schedule.

Then I checked AMC and yep starting Jan 7th only the 355 is showing.

I'm wondering if it's just AMC? They are going through some really bad financial times and maybe their credit was cut-off after the start of the new year? Or maybe it's the start of a new contract for their suppliers?

They could be cutting back on new releases to keep crowds down but I think we would be seeing mass cancellation of events in other places too. The Chicago auto show is going on and that's like a million people in two rooms.

Every theater in my city including AMC are showing all sorts of movies for the dates mentioned.

Yes. Pretty much all I've been saying. Glad I'm not the only one. Hell, in those first screenshots I posted on page one it even said to check back by Wednesday evening. 🤣

Welcome to the party! New guy buys pizza and beers. 😜

Thanks for sharing the link. To be honest, AP did go way over the top to explain how this is normal. Almost suspiciously so, but I think that's just how the news is now-a-days at the same time.

Throw up an intro in the Introductions forum for a proper welcome.

AMC has been circling the drain for awhile. They were close at the end of 2020, but through stock offers, lines of credit, and the actions of the Reddit group, they were able to make it through 2021. I'll be shocked if they make it through this year without some sort of restructuring, downsizing, or potentially even into some form of bankruptcy.

These are pretty much normal theater operations. It only seems like a lot worse than it is because of the excitability of social media, the draw down from holiday movie going crowds, and the lack of new movies coming out right now.

I've seen the show, didn't know their names. The few times I've watched it it was just a little bit to silly for me. some of them were funny though.
Thanks for the welcome.

My local Alamo only has the Ultimate Director's Cut of Rocky IV listed for the 7th. But they're always bad about having movies listed beforehand.

The last time I gave Hollywood my money, it essentially involved sitting inside a giant dark dumpster with a cup of ice and a bucket of salt. To have some producer stuff their agenda at me.

Thanks for showing this everywhere but I'll pass. If it reviews any good I might rent it on discount.

This morning JAGstorm shared a premonition of

TextA mother and child crouched down on the street, they were both alive but scared.
A flash of the Statue of Liberty, so obviously New York, or something with our liberties…
A flash of a mob of people screaming

which got me to thinking about something I read on ATS many years ago- TPTB always announce their plans via movies, TV, plays, 'Oinon' pieces, etc ahead of time.

Text” One of the first things I learned about the elites is that they have a code of ethics. Their code of ethics is not the same as …mine, we who believe the word of God and the Bible………one of the facets of their code of ethics is they must tell the world everything they are going to do before they do it and this is where the word “buzzwords” come in.” – Lindsey Williams

Looked up the movie 355 to find it's a spy thriller about WWIII, which led me to this:

TextTERROR ALERT CONFIRMS THAT ILLUMINATI PLAN TO DESTROY NEW YORK CITY WITH ATOMIC DEVICE IS STILL ACTIVE!

www.cuttingedge.org...

I realize the dates are off, but so are most prophecies. We make an 'educated' guess at the time, which is mostly a crap shoot.
There are lots of negative predictions for the first two months of 2022; I think we're all a little weary and gun shy.

I'm still thinking Biden will be president until January 20, 2022- whether he's still living or not- and after that I expect our first female president to take over. She'd be qualified to fill two full terms after that, if there are enough dead people to elect, then reelect her.

I think socialist leaders the world over are making massive moves on many fronts right now, with MSM keeping as many things under wraps as possible, and doing damage control with whatever leaks out. Keeping us focused on Covid is rapidly loosing its power, so it's going to take something even more shocking to keep the plebes occupied while world structure goes through its final changes.

Something as simple as this? A worldwide shutdown of every movie listing, except for one spy movie that doesn't appear to be any good at all. You would have heard of this happening in the past. People go to the movies, and this would have been the kind of thing, like toilet paper, that people would talk about when the availability is taken away.
Very interesting, that the people who say they have checked several local theaters don't mention where they are. Montana is the same thing, and we have signature theaters in Kalsipell, and AMC in Missoula. This also isn't because of stocks going down- unless all theaters are simultaneously showing evidence of this on the same weekend with big movies like spiderman that could at least carry them through the current lineup dates.

Here's a comment I found on another popular site.
It may be a larp, but it's still interesting.

I am a senior project manager for Regal Theatres and you won't believe this but starting on January 7

Across the country we are retrofitting theaters to be emergency rooms; low-security, limited-capacity detainment or containment areas with medical facility infrastructure; and high-capacity morgues. This was a rapid contract we "won" from the federal government that, if you want the short version more or less came out of, undisclosed high-level mitigation proceedings prior to bankruptcy measures. We own the buildings so this is a way to segue out of the movie biz. Look, I can't talk to you about intent or motive or the backstory, just this project.

Basically we're creating more urgent care hospitals and morgues

I am usually a lurker here but had to come out for this one..love this site by the way! Anyway in my area Cinemark theaters are doing the same but not all of them oddly enough and not all starting on the 6th some started only showing 355 on the 7th with another movie called Poupelle of Chimney town. I look at about a 50 mile radius thinking it depends on the theater screen count and it does not. Smaller and larger theaters are doing this regardless of screen count. However, not every theater is doing this and some of the larger ones that are have no need to show only one movie they see a lot of foot traffic and NO we are not locked down or going into lock down in my state.

I know its a long shot BUT nothing surprises me anymore. What if theaters only showing 355 are targets? Targets for what I dont know..but what better way of getting a message out without getting a message out? Just a crazy thought..

I did find this article but its the AP so take it with a grain of salt and I never remember this happening before but I am not always watching movies either. Someone that goes to the movies regularly would have to chime in.

apnews.com...

As far as being a target, that could be possible, but what is it a target of. It seems if you were going to do something dastardly to the people in a movie theater, you would want as many people in it as you could hold. Would it be easier to pack a theater with a variety of new release cartoons and movies, or a single movie with unkown/lesser known actors that has a plot less superior to James Bond and other spy films?

the local theatres I looked up yesterday all had only the 355 listed, now they have full listings.

This article explains the 5G tower (near airports) rollout date…it has already been postponed by a month. Doesn’t look like it will be postponed again.

“ "Without appropriate mitigations, the 5G deployment around airports could disrupt as many as 345,000 passenger flights — impacting 32 million travelers — in addition to 5,400 cargo flights each year in the form of delays, diversions or cancelations," said Carter Yang, a spokesperson for Airlines for America, a trade group representing US passenger and freight airlines.”

Biden would have to be in power until 2023 for Harris to take over and be eligible for a green year run. Hard to believe it, but the man hasn't even been President for a full year yet. 😬

If anything happens in the form of a "terrorist" attack it won't be from a foreign source. They want division at home, to turn us against each other.

Definitely sounds like a larp. Too many other, easier to convert buildings are available and have precedent for being converted to these things. Buildings like high schools, sports arenas and stadiums, warehouses, and large open spaces.

Has to be something up with website coding. Cinemark with IMAX near me only shows Movie The 355 and Poupelle of Chimney Town on January 7th (friday). Cinemark without IMAX screen near me, has all the current movies listed on January 7th (Spider-Man: No Way Home, The 355, Sing 2, The King's Man, American Underdog, The Matrix Resurrections, Ghostbusters: Afterlife and A Journal for Jordan).

Several different movie theater companies, all operating together to show the same kind of highlighted listings delisting, for the same dates, for some crappy spy movie up against awaited box office hits...
