Even if the shots were approved by the FDA, what does that actually mean? Very little.

It's been known for years that the FDA serves at the pleasure of the pharmaceutical industry, and is nothing but a rubber stamp.

Yes, monoclonal antibodies are being used, but they also aren't a magic cure-all. A few people are still dying from COVID-19 despite being vaccinated, and treated with monoclonal antibodies, and antivirals. That is the way most disease treatments function - imperfectly, but in the majority of cases, they do save lives.

Current monoclonal antibodies are unlikely to have an effect against complex poisons like snake venom. There is research into using various recombinant treatments to target different proteins in snake toxins, but any final product would be a mix of several of these because of the profusion if proteins that they would have to work against. As far as I know, there is no currently marketed monoclonal antivenin available.
