Studies have shown that unintended pregnancies decrease with an increase in education regarding reproductive health. Now we all know that low-income areas are worse when it comes to quality of education than higher income areas. This also applies to sex ed. Most low-income areas are still teaching abstinence-only sex ed despite numerous studies showing that it's ineffective and withholds valuable medical information from being taught.

Damn!

I'm starting to think Alabama is the most advanced state in the entire country!

Please, tell me more!

Well, thank you! Mobile is a beautiful city (well, as long as you stay out of the few slum areas, but I think every large city as some of that). I'm actually in the northern parts, but it's still beautiful up here I think.

I was speaking not of what really exists here or what we say, but what others like to say about us. Precious little of it is actually true, but I guess it makes them feel better about themselves (especially since I'm finding out how really advanced we are compared to other places).

Ummm...your in good company...I rarely make friends when I use logic based thought...too many want to emote issues...

I think it's safer for them...keeps them in their comfort zone...and they dont have to deal with realism...

That's why they always push back on the graphic nature of what they espouse...

You Went with the animals versus animus logic...its funny...I was going to go there...but deleted it and went with what I posted...

We have penalties for murder.

What is the penalty if one's family member dies from sickness?

I knew what you were doing

But like using the words of others as launching point to say whatever I wanted to say.

Democrats think the same things about every state I've ever called home (except Illinios/chicago, they think that is utopia) so am all too aware of the constantly raised noses.

The party of inclusiveness, my shiny white a.., wait - is this the pit?

You are aware that some abortions are because the child is not viable (will not live outside the womb even if carried to full term) and also present a risk to the mother's life, right?

You did know that?

That's dying of natural causes. You claim all abortions should be penalized in accordance with present law. So what's the penalty when a family member dies of natural causes?

I signed the DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) order for my mother when she was dying of natural causes. Medical science could have kept her technically alive longer (and cost a few million dollars we didn't have, as well as prolonging her agony). I guess I escaped prosecution somehow. What should have been my penalty for that heinous act? I'm curious.

I also hope the statute of limitations has run out...

No, sorry, it's not the Pit.

Oh, and as to the "second to Arizona" thing... sorry but you guys have a serious lack of water there! We have plenty, and if we ever run dry we can just go to Mobile and squeeze a few million gallons from the air.

Ok, about a year ago a friend of mine was on facebook complaining about how the surgeon that was gonna do surgery for her corpal tunnel was demanding something like a five hundred down payment. Blaming obama care for it...

She should have known better. I had broken my foot years earlier, before obamacare. The foot was bothering me before that, I had already racked up too much in debt trying to figure out what was wrong with it, going to physical therapy, drugs, ect. Asked for help, was refused, boss ignoring the notes limiting my activity, and well.. was actually falling in the shop. So, I needed another test, and another drug so they could do the test... went and got the drug and was told by my husband, ummm... we don't have money for the gas for you to get to work, or for you to have the drinks and snack... that was it for me!! I was working for the insurance that I was using to help pay for the healthcare I needed to be able to work and for all I know it was the work that was causing the problems. I quit my job that day, gave up the insurance... my job was costing me more than I was earning. So I settled down and hoped that if I just took it easier, the foot would heal itself... it didn't. Got up to walk, the line from my brain to my foot malfunctioned, foot dropped when it should of lifted, and well somehow ended up with a broken ankle. So, off I go to the er... xrays, slap on a splint, refer me to a surgeon, heck I even had to ask for some pain killers! And, the surgeon wanted a few thousand up front before he would do the surgery, lol, I could, and I did, heck I spent hours obsessed with, keeping track of the money coming in, the money going out. I twisted those numbers every which way. We had no internet, I was stuck home, i wasn't going anywhere, we had moved out of the hud subsidized housing that wasn't subsidized for us and were paying less, no water bill. the electric bill, well was the electric bill, we all needed new clothes.. and, any money that we were wasting wouldn't have mattered much anyway, there was no way I could balance it out so that we could cover the basic necessities of housing, food, electricity, car expense so hubby could get to work ect. That money we wasted may have bought us each a few outfits of clothes from goodwill but there was no way it would have been enough to have a few thousand in the bank account for that down payment. After going nuts a couple of weeks trying to figure out how we were supposed to have this money, how we were supposed to come up with it, calling social service and begging for help only to be told we made too much... I told my husband that I gave up!! I would just be content with not walking again..screw them. From there i can only assume what happened.. my husband went to work and talked to his boss, maybe asking for an advance or raise, maybe just quitting figuring if he was out of the picture social service would have to help. But i got a call from a state legislature and we had a nice chat where I actually told him that I thought it was unconstitutional for the state to take money from people who they knew damned well couldn't afford healthcare so that they could give it to another so they could get it... well, that same day the surgeon called me to make the appt for the surgery. It took the intervention of a state senator to get the surgery I needed!!
So, no, it wasn't obamacare that was the reason that my friend had to make that down payment... it was like that before... it was just that that crack of can't afford to live but too darn rich to live that I had been predicting would just keep rising up through the income scale had finally hit her...

So low-income women are just lying when they say that things like cost and lack of access have led to them inconsistently taking birth control?

The studies are lying when they show that hospitals and doctors' offices are closing primarily in low-income areas.

I guess the only explanations for why low-income women are getting pregnant way more often is because they're too stupid or lazy to use birth control.

We have FAR more fresh water than AL.

Unfortunately, most of it is in what's left of an ancient sea deep underground and leftists don't think it should be used.

I gladly accept that without complaint as it seems to keep leftists from moving here.

But AZ is very brown and I do miss seeing green every day.

So now your complaint is that Obamacare caused the bankruptcy of hundreds of rural hospitals?

I agree 100%.

And have zero pity for you.

And yes, if any lower income person complains about healthcare costs in the U.S., they are LYING.

Or more likely, just more democrat propaganda.

Medicaid is 100% Free, with only $4.00 copays for 90 day prescriptions of almost anything but the latest name brands.

It is a nationwide program that has been in existence for half a century.

And used by nearly everyone in low income areas.

By maybe 46 people in a country of over 300 million.

Going deep for the propaganda today?

Do you actually believe any of the nonsense you type, or just mindlessly repeat whatever the teevee tells you to?

Of course you can... but then my question becomes, why would anyone marry a man who would rape them?

Sounds like a bad decision on the woman's part, right there. Marriage is not slavery... both parties have the opportuity to say "no," even after the ceremony.

It just costs more after the ceremony.

The mindset is still preached on some pulpits and in the minds of both men and women.

Excuse my ignorance, but did we abolish freedom of religion?

Last I heard, it was still completely legal and usual to either ignore a preacher or go to a different one that preached more in line with one's personal beliefs.

The technical definition of low-income are households who make up to 200% the Federal Poverty Level. Households are only eligible (in states that expanded Medicaid) for Medicaid if they make below 133% the FPL.

That leaves a lot of low-income households that aren't eligible for Medicaid.

Do you???

I once asked the question on ATS that went like this...
If your spouse, wife or husband, came up to you one day and said...
Ya know, we already have more kids than we can handle I am just gonna abstain from sex now till menopause.
What would be your response...
Some said divorce. Some pointed to the many methods of birth control. Some brought up rectal or oral sex. Not many at that time bought into the idea of abstinence as a solution...
Just wondering... what would your answer be.
