If it's true, going to be very problematic for some people.

I cannot imagine how anyone can be this stoopid and still have the sense to know to look at a camera without written instructions... this doesn't implicate Baldwin, or the AD... it implicates every single person on that set!

I would even go so far as to hold Osha, the actors guild as well as the long
standing movie studios in Hollywood responsible. This kind of ridiculous negligence
and pure stupidity was obviously ignored when it ended the life of Brandon Lee.
One can only site the unabated arrogance in Hollywood and the ignorance of a
justice system that idolizes Hollywood celebrities. Unbelievably retarded that
this was allowed any possibility of happening after the loss of Brandon Lee.

I can't help wondering if the camera was rolling? How many copies have already
been made for the sick ass under belly of the entire planet?

Going back beyond Brandon Lee even we have Jon-Erik Hexum

The guy obviously had no business being around a cap gun. Let alone a
.44 mag loaded with blanks or even empty.

OSHA, yes, if they had authority over the set safety. I'm not sure that's true in the movie business, but others on here should be able to answer that.

I don't know if the SAG would be in play here. I doubt they had any control over, or any knowledge of, the weapons and ammo situation. If they did, then yes, they should go down as well.

Other movie studios, no. Not unless they contributed in some way. This is about justice, not revenge. Besides, seeing this set and those responsible shut down for good would probably have the desired effect.

It would also likely cause the silly idea that an actor is somehow exempt from responsibility for the gun he is pointing to be rejected in the future. That idea has to go. Now.

As I understand it, Brandon Lee was killed by a blank which was aimed at his temple at point-blank range. I believe that issue has already been addressed, so it wouldn't be relevant to this stupidity.

No one should be idolized by the law. Period. Just because one is an actor, it does not follow that they are any better or worse than anyone else, and certainly not entitled to special legal perks. On that we agree.

ETA: I believe it was a .45 Colt, not a .44 Magnum. Different guns, but about the same power range.

I'm wondering about the tweet that Hutchins reportedly made regarding HRC.

This URL is an archive capture of her twitter page on 23 October. Whether accurate or diddled ... no idea.

What bugs me is that I could swear I saw an image of Hutchins' purported tweet before she was shot, like a day or so prior.

Even if that image was faked ... if it was circulated before she was shot ... then somebody was aware "an accident had been planned".

Anybody recall when they first saw the purported Hutchins tweet about HRC?

Cheers

TMZ says that they...whoever they is...were doing actual target shooting with real guns and ammo when not filming.

Yeah, its TMZ...take it for whatever its worth. Gun That Killed DP ...
ALLEGEDLY USED FOR OFF-SET TARGET PRACTICE

The smoking gun that claimed the life of Halyna Hutchins might've been more than just an on-set prop -- it was also being fired recreationally, even when cameras weren't rolling.

Multiple sources directly connected to the 'Rust' production tell TMZ ... the same gun Alec Baldwin accidentally fired -- hitting the DP and director -- was being used by crews members off set as well, for what we're told amounted to target practice.

Alec is still ultimately responsible. As I said in the other thread, he was holding the gun. He should have inspected the gun he was holding. He should have exercised trigger control. He should not have aimed his gun at people w/out ensuring there were not bullets inside of the gun - blank or real or nothing at all.

I saw it way after and I believe it is fake. At one time, a bunch of fake stuff started circulating on 4chan...then picked up on Twitter.

That looks like a single-action revolver. It would be quite difficult to accidentally fire it during a quick-draw. I was expecting to see something like the Colt M1878, a double-action model that was manufactured between 1878 and 1907.

Unless, of course, he was actually practicing firing as well as drawing the gun. In that case, he is guilty of extreme negligence for doing so in the direction of anyone else, and should be tried for manslaughter.

Apparently he was on set and the Director was ready to start shooting the scene

WHAT?

My GOD! I just read that link!

We're told this off-the-clock shooting -- which was allegedly happening away from the movie lot -- was being done with real bullets ... which is how some who worked on the film believe a live round found its way in one of the chambers that day.
...and...

There's also this ... one source who was on set and familiar with the goings-on of the crew tells us that when cops showed up, they found live ammo and blanks were being stored in the same area -- another possible explanation for how an actual bullet slipped got in the gun.

Holy mother of Robert E. Lee! Is there any possible way these blithering idiots could have been less safe? I'm amazed half the people on the set weren't killed already!

If this is true, I never want to hear another single word form anyone who works for any entertainment industry in any way about gun control... not one damn word! This in my mind disqualifies them form having anything to say on the subject. It's as bad as a convicted arsonist preaching to someone about fire safety!

I cannot imagine how anyone can be this stoopid and still have the sense to know to look at a camera without written instructions... this doesn't implicate Baldwin, or the AD... it implicates every single person on that set!

Woa!!!

This is too stupid to be stupid.

End of story.

Seems Baldwin has a role in the production...

Baldwin is also producing under his El Dorado Pictures banner along with Matt DelPiano through his Cavalry Media, Ryan Donnell Smith through Thomasville Pictures, Anjul Nigam of Brittany House Pictures and Ryan Winterstern and Nathan Klingher of Short Porch Pictures. Allen Cheney, Emily Hunter Salveson, Christopher M.B. Sharp, and Jennifer E. Lamb are EPs. BondIt Media Capital and Hunter Salveson and Donnell Smith’s Streamline Global are financing.

Another oddity is the plot...I mean really, it revolves around an accidental murder!?

The film’s plot centers on Harland Rust (Baldwin), an infamous Western outlaw who has had a bounty on his head for as long as he can remember. When his estranged 13-year-old grandson Lucas (Noon) is convicted of an accidental murder and sentenced to hang, Rust travels to Kansas to break him out of prison.

I'll take it even further and say society as whole is to blame. A few people in Sodom doing hinky things? Nuke 'em from orbit. Those skanks in Gomorrah? Hit them too.

Everyone needs to nut up, stop being a mary and take responsibility for things they didn't do.

I'm still theorizing that perhaps a bad blank shot shrapnel from the casing.

This is how it happened with Brandon Lee. Prop bullet with a live primer in it fired during a scene, bullet got stuck in the barrel. Later a blank in the gun managed to fire the bullet out of the gun killing Lee. Quite some time passed between the bullet getting stuck and it being shot into Lee and nobody had noticed or checked if the gun was blocked in that time between shoots. (no pun intended)

This kind of stuff sadly does happen, too often. Even Peter Jackson's film 'Meet the Feebles' I recall reading when the film launched that in the scene where the Hippo character fires a belt fed machine gun that the film crew apparently were ducking for cover as the 'blank' firing gun started spraying the room with brass shrapnel.

Personally I am going to wait until the police investigation is over and we have all the facts before I start guessing at what happened and whether it was just an unfortunate accident or something else that I will have to change my thoughts on every 5 minutes as more info trickles in.

I recall back when I started reloading, I had some old powder that I wanted to use instead of throw away. I loaded a box of .357 Magnum rounds with it.

When i tried to fire one, it went off with a very sick-sounding "pop" instead of the expected "bang." I literally heard the bullet hit the ground maybe 20 feet in front of me. The second shot I heard nothing hit, so I opened the cylinder and checked the barrel. Sure enough, there sat the bullet, plugging the barrel as nicely as you please. Took me several hours to dislodge it without damaging the rifling.

I threw away the old powder and reloaded the rest of the shells with new powder. Lesson learned. Had I not inspected the gun, one good round could have either shot two bullets or more likely damaged the gun (not to mention the blast would have been directed back at me). I don't load for others very often, but every time I do I test fire one round per box... just to be sure.

Alec is the one who is in charge of the entire film it is his movie.
If the person he hired (scab) did not properly check the weapon Alec is responsible because he hired him.
This could be considered a double win for some. Antagonist dead, gun grab coming.
Alec cries about gun safety on TV showing remorse for the woman he killed how it was an accident and how everyone should just turn in their guns for safety (even though he used it unsafely and seems to be getting off scott free.)

Yeah, that video just screams "responsible person."

Did you notice she has a picture of a skeleton hanging on the wall behind her? Irony is ironic.
