The instillation of new gas boilers will be banned from 2023 in the UK , all new build houses will be fitted with Heat Pumps with existing housing being converted there after , as I said we are moving away from gas.

And that is a Nobel goal to have. Heat pumps require near to air tight homes as possible to be effective. This may be possible on new homes but ineffective on old housing stock.

Its a stupid idea, like all other government programs. Most Victorian homes were not meant to be sealed up so thats gonna cause mold issues and god knows what else....those bricks were designed to breathe..

Its 3-5k to replace a boiler, there are a shortage of installers, and nobody is gonna replace a working boiler so its gonna take decades to get them swapped out.

And heat pumps get less efficient as it gets colder so they will require emergency heating when it gets real cold.

Well, it sucks care. We have to use positive ideas not negative. We want positive ideas coming back three fold not negative. The Progs have a ton of negative they are getting now. It is coming home to roost for them. The hell they wished and pushed on others, will most likely cause them to experience their own hell they didn't even see coming. Recharging? AS you noted, there is no infrastructure as is for cars....so how is that gonna translate to housing? HOw long has it been since Congress spent real money on real projects? Your having a laugh at that idea.

It isn't all that bad I got a few giggles out if the replies.

There's no gas shortage, there's no worldwide energy crisis. It's just logistical hiccups and knobheads speculating as they always do. Personally I think the cronyism and blatant propaganda associated with post covid recovery has reached ridiculous levels. Every day it's a new story about rising prices, the occasional link with Brexit or supposed worldwide shortages.

So much spinning it makes you sick, I'm weary for the future in all honesty. I'm expecting some bs that'll make dodgy covid contracts look like the good ol' days.

Absolutely the heat pumps would need back up heating, they are proposing electric heaters which is a very expensive way to heat, ask anyone with storage heaters.

As you said with the older homes there is no way to make them airtight in reality. Plus all the piping and venting would be in plain sight, not hidden away like with new builds.

It is an unrealistic idea indeed.

I dont understand the idiocy of the people planning this stuff out.....Peeps wanna say its a conspiracy, but I just think it idiots in charge.

Take electric cars......I live on a small street with 200 victorian houses. Where ya gonna charge them? Run cables out the postbox hole in the door? Hell, half the time I never get to park in front of my own house.

Not to mention EU regs on tripping hazards with all the cables running across the sidewalk.


As far as heat pumps.....gonna be an effing disaster. Who is qualified to install them? Where is all this new electric coming from? Simple questions.
